iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Not that we needed another film prop, but we wanted a skeleton in the treasure room, so I made the gold mask Anck-Su-Namun wears for all of two minutes in The Mummy Returns. How-to in alt text.

Base is a $0.99 mask from Michael’s, fitted with a foam circlet to fit the skeleton. Flared sides are also foam, with a twine trim for the detailing and around the eyes.

The finished mask, painted gold, weathered, and sealed. Metallic gemstones were added to the front band, and braids of gold run down the back.

Scarabs are done (at last!). Kids will reach into the prize box and see if they pull a gold scarab to win a grand prize (full size candy). These were sculpted with clay/silicone molds, primed, and then painted with color shift paint or gold Rub’n Buff.

Bracelet of Anubis! Apparently I didn’t take WIPs for this, but it was a simple build. Used a costume cuff bracelet and EVA foam for the base. Scorpion was 3D printed, Anubis head clay sculpt. A whole lot of faux rivets and gems, some paint and weathering, and there it is.
