It’s been ten years since our friend, Jo Cox was murdered by a far right extremist. Jo was a champion of community, tolerance and mutual respect. The values she believed in continue to inspire me, and people across the country to seek unity over division and peace over hatred.

This morning, the Leeds Sikh Community held a vigil for Henry Nowak in Chapel Allerton. I was touched by the warmth and kindness of all those who attended to pay their respects to Henry following his murder. Henry will be remembered and we must redouble our efforts to end knife violence.

Henry Nowak's murder was an unforgivable tragedy. Vickrum Digwa lied to the Police and it's right that he has been sentenced to life imprisonment for this evil crime.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and all victims of the Nazis including members of my own family. I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment. Antisemitism is a very real threat and we must challenge it wherever it occurs.
