The example game is very much retro simple pixel art so the capsule art does wonders in feeling in that imagination gap to set the tone. My game is also pixel art based and want to achieve the similar feeling.

I am drawn to is the "storybook" type of look, where the art and the color reminds me of printed medium. Also, the clear contrast and simple intentional elements of limited palette feels good. Additionally, the game is about adventuring/exploring and I think this "epic" look communicates that wel.
