EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Finally finished all my sufflock/leicester fleece singles. Whilst spinning I discovered a few locks very slightly retained some lanolin - not enough to feel unwashed greasy but enough to be noticeable to me. I’m planning to do a 3ply, then decide whether to scour the yarn. 030
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Completed tablet woven band. This pattern is ‘Spectrum’, available free from Tablet Weaving in Theory & Practice’s blog, that I modified to be 18F/18B turn pattern as I like the reversal better. Done in 4ply Chaffey yarn from Nundle Woolen Mills. 040
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Lots of progress on the cotton shawl. There were many, many mistakes to get to this point resulting in lots of frogging back which was incredibly frustrating. Between both balls I still have a good amount of yarn remaining which I hope is enough to get through 1 more full repeat. 0135
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Here’s one method to finish the ends on your tablet woven bands - twisted fringe! 063
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Thought I’d show off my latest spindle - a Stephen Willette creation with a uranium glass tip. It’s currently got some hand blended merino on it We also recently pulled out the powerbank & rigged up a UV led to check out the uranium glow - how cool is it?! 030
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 16/09/2026WIP ‘moira’ shrug. After steaming all the pieces so the edges laid flat, I mattress stitched the shoulder seams, checked the side seams, & started the armhole ribbing. 041
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 14/09/2026WIP spectrum tablet woven band. This is the first time I’ve ever tablet woven using pure wool, and heck is wool sticky/grabby to weave with! To combat the wools tendency to stick to itself, I started checking the position of each cards top thread every pick (turn). 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Started working on a Paimutantea shawl by Redteapotatelier. I’m using my last 2 balls of hobbii sultan deluxe cotton yarn. I’m making this as big as possible, so I’m switching between balls to maintain the full gradient. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Finished sunflowers tapestry! This is a vintage Collection D’Art design printed on 100% cotton canvas. Stitched in traditional tent stitch using 100% DMC tapestry wool. 000
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 06/09/2026When I saw this pattern design I knew it was my excuse to try out the yarns from Nundle Woolen Mill. The pattern is ‘Spectrum’ by Catherine Weaver (www.tabletweavingintheoryandpractice.co.uk) & it’s a free pattern. 010
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Steam blocking is the final step before the tapestry is officially called done. Blocking a tapestry helps to revitalise the yarn that gets compressed from being wound tightly around the frame arms during the stitching. 0101
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Finished up my new tablet cards. After laser cutting the cards out, I spent several days hand sanding the surfaces with 600/800/1200 grit sandpaper, and hand filing the holes to get a super smooth finish. I finished with Feast Watson Buffing Oil & furniture beeswax. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I randomly decided to teach myself tatting. Which meant that I nad to get myself a beautiful wooden shuttle because I refuse to teach myself things with ‘bad-feeling *coughplasticcough* tools. I’m pretty pleased with this considering it’s a first try! 010
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 23/08/2026WIP tablet cards. The maker of my favourite tablet cards stopped making them, which was a problem because I needed more to make larger designs. So my partner & I worked to replicate the card design, and laser cut them out from 1.5mm jarrah & blackwood ply. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 19/08/2026Took me an entire weekend, but I now have a copious number of fluffy suffolk/leicester rolags, ready to spin. I am hoping this preparation will aid in creating a super soft & lofty yarn. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I decided that a new family tradition would be that I make a birthday crown for my kid every year up until they’re 18 years old. So here is the first in what is hopefully a long line of birthday crowns. 041
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I didn’t take many photos of working this next section, I was too in the flow. I stitched the flowers/leaves first, then filled in the background so the canvas would roll cleanly. There’s only one little section left now then it’ll be completed. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 12/08/2026I took a little break from this project because I got annoyed at having to write out the pattern instructions to be more user friendly. I’ve now got a completed back and an almost complete left front. 040
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Finished viking baby krytle. I made this viking style tunic for my kiddo using some lovely pure merino wool suiting and some cotton tablet woven trim I made several years ago. Only the main seams of this garment were machine sewn, everything else was hand stitched. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 09/08/2026A little explanatory video of how to flick out fleece locks. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Wanted to show how I use my niddy noddy for processing my handspun. This 2 yard niddy noddy is made from standard plumbing piping you can get from the hardware. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Completed ‘Chestnut Bonnet’, knit in fyberspates vivacious yarn in Lundy Island colourway. Bonnet modelled by my partner who has a perfectly normal sized head. Chestnut Bonnet pattern by Yevheniia Pyroh. Pattern can be found on Etsy or Ravelry. 040
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Sunflower tapestry WIP. The canvas wasn’t rolling smoothly because of the height difference between the stitched & unstitched areas. So I went back to fill the background areas I’d skipped over. Doing large blocks of a single colour is incredibly boring. 030
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I’ve been doing themed month photos for my baby throughout the year & one of them was viking era themed to coincide with our local medieval festival. This was a lot of trial and error as baby proportions are weird -front panels, armpit squares, and side gores needing re-cut. 041
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Shrug/bolero WIP. I finally found the perfect pattern for a special variegated handspun - ‘Moira’ from Rowen Classic Tweed Vol 21. This yarn was made from 3 different @fossilfibers colourways with tones that were a perfect complement. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 22/07/2026The first load of fleece (about 1/3rd) has been washed. Lanolin dissolves in water thats 60C, but wool doesn’t like hot temperature or sudden temperature changes otherwise it’ll felt. There is 1-2 rinse baths after the scour, which isn’t shown, just to get any remaining soap out. 040
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 21/07/2026Completed hobbit house full body cross stitch. Piece is completed on 14ct aida cloth & measures 30x30cm. Stitched using DMC cotton threads. 1110
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 20/07/2026USA SHIPPING UPDATE As a hobby artist I can not absorb the new tariffs & as an Australian I am not liable to pay tariffs of another country. Until American stops bullying their own country and the rest of the world, I will not ship items there. 040
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Sunflower tapestry WIP. I focused on getting the 3rd sunflower and the bottom leaves completed. This represents approximately 2 weeks work. 060
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 19/07/2026I’ve had this perendaleXmerino fleece for almost a year now, so it’s time it gets washed so the lanolin doesn’t set or discolour the wool. Since I can only wash fleeces in tubs in my bath, I prefer to pick the locks so they can be lined up in washbags. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 12/07/2026Aaaand … the final section is complete! Stay tuned for the big reveal whilst I get this sucker steam cleaned & pressed. 120
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 12/07/2026Aaaand … the final section is complete! Stay tuned for the big reveal whilst I get this sucker steam cleaned & pressed. 010
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 11/07/2026Our Pathfinder group wanted a break from dungeon crawling, so we did an airbrush painting day instead. I managed to get this lovely base gradient & spotlight highlighting. I haven’t really planned this paint job, so I’m going to let it sit whilst I contemplate next steps. 051
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 07/07/2026More progress on the sunflower tapestry. I’m doing each sunflower individually, just in case my guesstimate on how much wool I needed is wrong and I need to get more. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Finished the 5th section on the hobbit house cross stitch. I am so close to finishing the image and am getting super excited to see the whole scene come together! 0100
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 28/06/2026I’m all ready to ply these singles!! Some of these have been ‘resting’ since before my baby was born! Everything except the turkish spindle are #fossilfibers colourways that I’m super excited to see as yarn. 050
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Almost there! I found an error in the pattern when decreasing but thankfully it was really easy to figure out a workaround. I am not looking forward to doing the second cord though. I’m planning to steam block this to preserve the structured texture. 130
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 21/06/2026My partner works for Google & there was interest from colleagues in learning how to spin. So I made up some starter packs & over the fortnight conducted 2 one hour workshops at the Google offices. So proud of my students who tried everything & made some lovely yarn. 170
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 20/06/2026It was so lovely to meet Adam Savage today! I had made him a pouch using my first ever handspuns that I had woven into cloth. He was fascinated and appreciative of the gift & I hope it serves him well into the future. Sooty also came along to show off his handmade travel puppet box. 1121
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 17/06/2026bought this vintage Royal Paris Collection D’Art tapestry canvas a year ago & just recently spent the $$$ for the wool. Just this flower and the surrounding leaves represents about 3 weeks of work. 141
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 14/06/2026Some more progress on the hobbit house cross stitch. I finished the top quarter and worked on the bottom side corner. Only have 2 more sections on the other side to go! 2191
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I knit up myself a little headband using some handspun from my stash. It was a refreshingly quick knit, only taking up a few days of work, and it’s very comfortable to wear. 050
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 09/06/2026Completed pines cardigan knit baby cardigan. Made using fyberspates sock in verdigris & oatmeal colourways. Buttons are natural horn. (Pattern is the Pines Cardigan by KnitduNord - do not recommend pattern). 041
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 08/06/2026Decided to make a small teddy bear for next the Royal 2027 competition. I haven’t decided yet whether this will be a plain bear or a clothed bear, mainly because the fur I’m using colour shifts between shades of blue/grey or shades of grey/silver/purple depending on lighting. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 03/06/2026WIP of a bonnet. I’m making the Chestnut Bonnet by Yevheniia Pyroh using some fyberspates 4ply yarn. Doing the i-cord almost broke me because it looks like a flat twisted noodle until you’ve done about 5 or so centimetres! 010
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 02/06/2026Completed ‘Silver Needle Tea’ shawl in gradient cotton yarn & tigers eye/yellow crystal accents dangles. Pattern is the SilverNeedleTea Shawl by RedTeapotAtelier. #fiberarts #textiles #slowfashion #crochet 0130
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 31/05/2026Alrighty, this is looking awesome! This is also the first time I’ve ever done sleeves and had to deal with picking up underarm stitches, & it was much less intimidating than I was led to believe. 020
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Blocked the SilverNeedleTea shawl and I’m pleasantly surprised at how generally even the large holes turned out (they had me worried whilst crocheting). After it was dry I decided that it needed an extra element to really ‘pop’ the design, so I added some bead dangles. 03410
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 24/05/2026WIP of the Pines Cardigan by KnitsduNord. I’m using fyberspates sock yarn in oatmeal & verdigris from my stash to make this up for my baby to grow into. I really hate it’s taken this long to actually work on this, but I was put off by how poorly written the pattern is. 021
EzekiellsPlayground @ezekiellplays.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I am super pleased with how the colours are playing out, it’s reminding me of honey & baked treats. I would like to use up the whole ball, however I’m getting the feeling that this pattern won’t stretch quite that far. 0124
