Went to Himmelbjerget yesterday. Directly translated it means "Sky mountain". Wholely unfitting name for a 147 meters tall dirt hill lol. Has a lot of beautiful nature though We had to bike 16 kilometers of which 10 of them was gravel and sand to get there. I'm surprised I had no falls

Context also matters, ofc. There's difference whether it's said by someone in the same group who has dealt with the same problems, or by someone unaffected by it. It easily ends up feeling less 'being there emotionally' and more as a dismissal from having to (3/4)

"You shouldn't have to deal with this" just brings the attention back on "You are currently being punished for something you have no control over" while actively looking for a way to gain the little bit of control of it that might be within grasp. (2/4)

I can definitely see why people respond that way, I don't want to make it sound like I dislike the person, even if I dislike the response. People mean well. It's just one of those things that feel very unhelpful and I'd personally much prefer either no response or just "That sucks bro" because (1/4)

I hate this one thing, I don't know if it actually has a name, but I like to call it virtuous dismissal. When you go "I have this problem (Caused by being a marginalized group). Any tips on solving it?" And the response you get rather than help is just "You shouldn't have to worry about this!"
