I've never been a fan of RoR. As a VP & CTO, I allow teams to use whatever they want, works for their team, and their stakeholders. I dictated a conversation from Ruby this year, possibly the first full dictate I've ever given. Now, RoR gives me a non-tech reason to distrust them.

While I do believe team structures are and need to change, I don't buy the no need for management. I especially don't based on a 3 years old company. Startup structure is different than longevity. Side note, if an org's managers didn't want to manage, you have a severe leadership failure

Companies have been using market data from ADP and others for years to get true payroll information in order to know if salaries align with the market. Job postings aren't as good as actual payroll data. All this does really is give them access to free data.

This is the exact spot I'm in at work right now. Defining the value these tools and platforms actually bring and how to budget appropriately for that value. I think $2k a month per dev is a good baseline based on the usage I am seeing. Honestly most don't hit that today.

I like to watch what China has been doing. They have the same approach as the EU on things like protecting jobs, but they also have been working to protect the Internet hacking AI the US companies are pretending to be worried about today. China has been on that topic since at least 2024.

Texas used to be a segregated state. They didn't desegregate until the federal government forced them to. Imagine if Talerico said he supports bringing back segregation to gain votes from people in Texas that want that. That is the comparison you need to look at as Trans human rights are diminished

I have the same experience. I have a team of around 125 that switch continuously between Codex, Claude, and GitHub Copilot (mostly using 5 or 6 different models between them). Once you can embrace a harness/router outside the model vendor it even reduces those few minutes of switch over
