Watched Obsession last night and took this picture because I was sending live updates to a friend and accidentally caught the middle of an angle transition which resulted in a sweet photo! 😳

To me, love is a feeling but it's also a pillar of who I am. My version of love, regarding a person, is a genuine desire to be part of the reason that someone experiences joy. I want nothing more than for people I love to feel good and to be joyous directly because of my impact. It's my language.

It’s already been a hard year with my mom passing in April. I didn’t expect this from my father; a man who’s a very classic “don’t talk about my feelings” kind of guy. Very cool. I responded as kindly as I could because I know he’s just hurting but this sucks.

A text conversation between me and my father. He’s telling me off, making a comment about how I should consider him dead to me just like my mom. I responded as kindly as I could.

It's so easy for me to get discouraged. It feels bad taking time out of my day to let someone know that I'm thinking about them and then feel like they don't really care that I do. Making an effort matters. Taking action to make people feel seen or heard matters. I feel like I give in so much.

I have such deep feelings for some people and I am constantly like "is this okay? is this allowed?" and it stresses me out but I always believe this: "The one that loves never loses." To love is to experience one of the greatest joys in life. It's a feeling that is tied to so many experiences.

I know I post about it a lot. But man, periodically getting hit with those real "wow, she's really gone" quiet moments has become bittersweet. I know my mom was in a lot of pain. Always stressed about money. Always lost in her alcohol. Part of me is happy she doesn't have to "survive" life now.

One of the harshest lessons I've learned in my life, & have been reminded of many times this year, is that people are going to be there for me in their own unique manner; in a way they can manage. It's unfair of me to have rigid expectations of how a friend or someone I care about shows up for me.
