Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 31/03/2026The thing is, it's a LOT less dangerous than smoking, at least in the immediate term. Sometimes, "harm reduction" really is the best way, though the ultimate best way is "don't start in the first place". But then...when I was 16 year old, I don't think I'd have listened too hard. 000
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 31/03/2026Yes, that bit really bothers me. I do wonder if we do nearly enough - beyond "just say no" - to inform kids about what embarking on what's really a rather pernicious addiction means for them. Talking to younger people of my acquaintance, there's a real ignorance about it. 110
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 31/03/2026To be fair, I managed to successfully stop smoking via a vape, after many unsuccessful attempts to quit using the "conventional" approach. Sure, now I have to work on the nicotine addiction, but as a harm reduction strategy, it's worked very well for me, and I am already feeling the benefit. 000

It is solely focussed on ensuring its own grandiose existence and financial gains. 1131

Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 05/12/2025How is it that sport so often considers itself above international norms? First judo, now this, and these are just the latest in a long list. Does sport recognise a kindred spirit in Putin's corrupt oligarchy? 110
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 31/10/2025So you're correlating the colour of someone's skin with "risk"? That's pretty much textbook racism, right there. 000

Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 09/01/2025Mercator projections distort more the further away from the equator you get. Given that Trump's tiny dick is ON the Trump equator, it really is that small. It'd look much bigger if it were at, say, the latitude of his head 🤔 040
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 08/01/2025They're basing that on the publicly available funding info, not the deniable slush funds which form the bulk of our financing. It's been like that since the beginning, but these fools still think they've just discovered something amazing. 180
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 07/01/2025Keep the faith. Be the change you want to see. The seesaw is slowly tipping toward places like Bluesky, and away from the Xitter cesspit, and every little helps. 010
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 07/01/2025What I hope is that they're feeling VERY relieved at being taken out of the fight, although that does look like a scary ride. It's really important that Ukraine continues to treat its prisoners with respect and kindness, unlike how they will have experienced life in the Russian armed forces. 040
Stephen @expatsais.bsky.social · 06/01/2025Even worse than that, some people take "I do it THIS way" as a frank criticism of how they do it. Defensiveness writ large. 000
