Well, the wife is pretty happy I ordered in one of her favorites! #MariyaTakeuchi’s Variety is a top #JPop album, released in 1984 and a staple of her Karaoke repertoire. Most songs, including Plastic Love, are familiar to me too. This is the 2021 reissue. . #japanesepop #vintageaudio #audiophile

I likes me some small-group #McCoyTyner, and this 1962 trio session (Reaching Fourth) on #ImpulseRecords with Henry Grimes and Roy Haynes is a doozie. #jazzsky #jazzmusic

Christmas is well and truly over, but this green and red combo sure is festive. Sunday evening with #EnricoRava and #MarioRusca, and their 1997 album D.N.A., first released on vinyl for RSD 2022. Italian jazz! #jazzsky #jazzmusic

Thought I had a copy of #CliffordJordan’s eponymous 1957 album with #LeeMorgan (the one given a #TonePoet reissue in November). Went to play it last week only to discover I was mistaken. That’s been rectified now. Lovely record, and Lee slays as usual. #jazzsky #audiosky

Rejigged the office system, with Sony PS1 connected to a Rogersound Labs ia255.1 mini amp feeding ADS L200’s (similar to Minimus 7, but better sound). MacBook Air interfaces with the amp by USB, office laptop by Bluetooth, and PS1 by RCA. A small package with punch. #musicsky #audiosky

The first audiophile vinyl I purchased was in the lockdown summer of 2020. Ordered a copy through Discogs of the 2015 #AnalogueProductions reissue of #GeneAmmons’ 1960 masterpiece, Boss Tenor. Gene had one of the biggest, fattest, smoothest tenor sounds. AP does him justice. #jazzsky #musicsky

Back to very cold in Calgary as of Dec. 31 (good for allergies, but bad for wanting to venture outdoors). Warming things up with the #Bossa sounds of #AntonioCarlosJobim and Wave from 1967. #musicsky #bossanova

It’s been warm in Calgary for about a week now (benefits of Chinook conditions). Unfortunately for me warm = snow melt = snow mold = allergies, so I’m feeling a bit out of it. A little #AstrudGilberto is perking me up though; such carefree, uplifting music! #bossanova #jazzsky

I’m admittedly more a fan of instrumental jazz than vocal, but I heard a LOT of vocal sides at Jazz Kissas in Japan in September and I’ve been bitten by the bug. Now spinning #BlossomDearie’s eponymous 1957 effort, reissued last year. #jazzsky #jazzmusic #vocaljazz

Just one of the inconsequential trumpeters #CanonballAdderley worked with in 1959… #KennyDorham and his sextet do 6 tracks on Blue Spring, 5 of which have “spring” in their title. Wishful thinking in Calgary in late November? I think yes. #jazzmusic #jazzsky #musicsky
