Whenever I go home, I make a stop at Fort Monroe, where slavery in the United States had its beginning and the beginning of its end.

When the workers peeled back the flooring, they discovered that the pipe still was leaking, and wood that clearly should have been replaced was not. They told her she was lucky that no one fell through. She's not suing because she got a functional kitchen, aesthetics be damned.

When the crew pulled up the flooring, they told her it wasn't glued down, the wet boards did not get replaced and the leak wasn't fixed properly. "You're lucky no one fell through the floor," they said to her.

She didn't want faux wood in the kitchen, but she was fine with just make my kitchen safe.

Twenty-eight years ago today, Sgt. Rudolph T. Robinson died at the VA hospital in Richmond. Dad had served in the 260th Quartermaster Battalion. A few days later, I learned that I had another sister. But that's a story for another time.

I'm more of a Pleasants Hardware person, but after her adventure, I had to go see the Queen of Richmond.

Francine, the Richmond Lowe's cat, sleeping on an artificial Christmas tree box. She recently wandered onto a truck and wound up in a distribution center in North Carolina. The public outcry that led to Lowes corporate pulling out all the stops to bring her home comforts me because Richmond is still weird. It's a new kind of weird, but that's fine with this weirdo.

My sister worked at PharMor before she moved to Maryland and got married and had a kid and was diagnosed with MS and had two more kids and then died in our mother's house 10 years ago. Mom ("Look at me acting like I'm going somewhere soon!") gave me some heirlooms. This was tucked inside.

My sister Theresa inexplicably got promoted to manager after fighting multiple people on the clock.
