i’m thinking the reason is the stock was cratering, and block somehow still hadn’t done layoffs to compensate for overhiring during covid (which others had mostly done c. 2022-3). ai is mostly (90+%) not shown to actually be more efficient, and coding was not the bottleneck to begin with
