The anti-AI crowd is acting more and more like the anti-vax "purebloods." Just ridiculous fucking losers, pretending they have a say in how other people choose to build their own projects.

I was 8 years old, in bed, and overheard my parents watching this, not realizing it was a movie. I thought the CNN-style newscasts about a nuclear exchange between the US and the USSR were real. I was both terrified and angry that my parents were just letting me sleep through the end of the world.

I think it's why I'm enjoying this LLM era so much. I get to bring everything I've ever learned to bear on the solutions I build, because expediency is not as much of a concern. I get to experiment. I get to explore. And the more I learn the better my solutions become because my questions get better

allows me to visualize, navigate, filter, transform, extract from those csv files faster than any tool I've ever used, using far less memory, and I have not yet worked my way through the rust book. Knowing data structure, algorithms, patterns, architecture + an LLM is a super power now.

So the part of my job I loathe the most is dealing with the multiple auditors we get with on a yearly basis. Have to provide them with extracts of the large CSV files (multi GB) we use to generate reports in a way they can monitor on a zoom call. I built a TUI csv viewer/extract tool in rust that

It's good news that NY Governor Kathy Hochul has appointed Leticia James special prosecutor in this case, and here remember that Hochul became governor because Governor Andrew Cuomo was forced to resign in disgrace because of his serial sexual harassment...

I wish more people understood that the result of elections is that the winning party gets to do a lot of things that their party wants (regardless of what they claimed or didn't claim in the election) & that we're at the end of the Republicans' period of getting to do their thing bc they won

The only time libs lose their agency is when they win, as were all about to be told ad nauseum in ~40 days. When libs win, it's the Republicans' doing or the two party system or the inevitable swing of public opinion. Everything and everyone but the libs will be responsible for the coming victory.

When ICE operates in Kansas, it needs to coordinate with our local law enforcement. Our sheriffs and police know these communities better than anyone, and working together keeps officers and residents safe.

And you think the best way to maximize Dem wins is to claim Democrats are not deserving of the coming landslide, and that even when they win, they'll surely disappoint us? That's your theory of how to "get as many Democrats elected as possible"?
100
ex3 @exactly3.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Ah well, then your strategy of working to tamp down enthusiasm for the coming Democratic landslide makes perfect sense. Can't be disappointed by Dems if they don't have any power. Oh wait, YOU absolutely can. You complain when they don't have power, when they might gain it, and when they do have it.

ex3 @exactly3.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Yes, yes, like other Republicans, you're very disappointed Democrats are going to win and Republicans are going to lose. Minimizing that victory, claiming the Democratic party is not responsible for their coming wins, is GOP loser cope, and I'm happy it's making you and your fans here miserable.

Economist John Kenneth Galbraith didn't live to see the "effective altruism" movement, but he knew the type and read them for filth.
John Kenneth Galbraith:
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy: that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

That they think themselves altruists is the most infuriating/amusing part. They do the thing so many stupid people do: believe their ability to imagine a thing (AI DOOOOOM!) lends credence to that thing, reifies it, so it is now a Thing That Must Be Dealt With. They've spent two? decades furiously

Champ, your flights of fancy about what it takes to solve difficult problems (lower course loads! more funding!) are even more ridiculous than your ROI claims. Mathematicians have been trying to figure out NS smoothness for almost a century. 2-1 schedules aren't the reason they hadn't solved it yet.

Assuming it holds, "The ROI on their Millennium Prize solution was negative!" is pure cope. There are much easier ways to make $1MM than solving one of the Clay Millennium Problems. No one does it to turn a profit. Do your get rich quick schemes involve winning a Nobel Prize?
