Do you remember when Rockefeller, Carnegie, Morgan, etc. did the same thing? But we got performing arts centers, museums, libraries and public works instead? Pepridge Farm remembers.

For every child that has this happy outcome, those doctors and nurse also watch another lose their fight without a donor. Tragedy and joy can live side by side.

Noone ever investigated who removed the panic buttons from all the congressional offices in the weeks leading up. Noone ever investigated the private tours that were given to the insurrection leaders in the weeks leading up. Noone investigated why local PD and National Guard didn't respond.

But, none of that requires going "dark". You can imperil the Federation and still be a fun movie. You can still be hopeful and idealistic. You can inject comedy with the drama.

Star Trek is a utopia story. For a movie, you need to imperil the utopia. That can mean a lot of things. It could mean an outside threat like Star Trek 1 and 4. It could mean the threat of war, like Star Trek 7. It could mean an internal threat to the soul of the Federation, like Insurrection.

Why do you keep clicking your tongs together when cooking. You know they open and close already. It worked the first time.

6. Getting older and not knowing who you are anymore other than your job and your responsibilities. Everything else has fallen away for all the reasons above. You don't have stories to tell. You don't have hobbies. Your last vacation was Sesame Place. Your weekend was spent at Home Goods.

5. Men don't sit around talking about their feelings and complaining about their problems, the foundation of most women friendships. The worst thing a man can be seen as is a burden. Complaining is being a burden. Asking for help is being a burden.

3. Correlary to 2. Your wife only wants you to be friends with her friends' husbands. You have nothing in common with them, but keep being pushed together. 4. Not having the money for hobbies and activities. Gen Z doesn't go to bars and clubs or eat out because they can't afford it.

There are several reasons this happens. 1. Male friendships are generally activity centric. Between careers and demands of caring for a family, time for activities and hobbies disappear. 2. Marrying a woman who doesn't like your friends or who you are around your friends.

This is why the show Veep ended. Reality was becoming more absurd than the show writers considered believable.

Would anyone today be shocked to learn Einstein was neurodivergent? Maybe even on the autistic spectrum? More recent studies already show that neurodivergence isn't a failing, but a diversity that brings benefits to the whole of "the tribe".

This. Give us a sequel 500 years in the future. Palpatine/Sidious is as much a legend as Darth Bane. And the Jedi Order has passed into myth and legend. A new hero is recruited by a mysterious figure in a robe to train and save the galaxy from a rising darkness. History rhymes.

Well, anyone but JJ Abrams. It was a trilogy with no overall plan, being rewritten by committee and rushed through production. Should have had one writer for the overall story and taken another 2 years before they started filming.

Star Wars is an industry because Disney paid $4 BILLION dollars for it (and Indian Jones, ILM, etc.). Disney investors demand a return on that investment. Frankly, they're only waiting for Harrison Ford to die before they reboot Indy.

What they've run into is being run by corporations that don't care about the property, the fans, or quality. They only care about views and profits. Superhero is not a genre. It's a character type that can fit into any genre. Star Wars is a fantasy set in space. Star Trek is a utopia in peril.

So identical they legally have to be microscopically laser etched with a serial number. The vast majority of mined diamonds are crushed up for use in tools like saws and abrasives. Because they are too "low quality" for jewelry.

My only question is, what was the format of their show? Were they hired to be a personality and spend as much time talking as playing music? Or were they just doing the typical 30 second transitions between commercials and songs and doing the call in contests and promos?

Discovery had the chance to show the Klingon Empire as more diverse than we've seen before. Could have shown that the Great Houses had different kinds of Klingons from multiple worlds. They chose not to.

I too love my speed queen. They're work horses. Get run twice a day. Seriously. Work clothes and regular clothes After 3 years of use, the heating element in the electric dryer burned out. It's literally like a thick toaster wire and it broke. Changed it myself. All parts easily accessible.

When they ask for your phone number, give it to them with one digit off. That way they can't contact you, but if you decide to do business with them, you can correct a minor mistake. Make an 8 a 4 and blame it on bad handwriting.

It really has shades of 1990s Scifi Channel where the people running the network didn't like scifi or scifi fans and kept trying to make it something else while canceling every show popular with scifi fans.

My point is even when you try to educate yourself continuously, finding a reliable source of information that isn't clouded by propaganda is increasingly difficult. There is propaganda on all sides. Sometimes the only way to know the truth is to dig up primary sources. Ex. Read the actual bills.

After WWII, America was the only country with an intact manufacturing industry. Dominated without competition for 3 decades. But once Japan industrialized, Europe rebuilt their manufacturing, and China and India began to industrialize, that's when the decline began.

Fun Fact: this badge is actually the warp energy curve. The star is light speed. The bottom curve is the energy requirement of the motion of matter showing you can never reach light speed. The top curve is the warp speed energy curve and the peek is warp 10.
The classic Star Trek badge with two curves and a star in the middle.

There's a story about a Staff Sergeant who always left a dirty pair of socks behind before deploying. He said he always made it back because he had something left undone to take care of. So as long as you have at least one unfinished manuscript, you should live forever.

Plus, daytime soap operas are basically gone. It would have been more timely to parody reality television. The forced situations. The awkward confessional interviews. The semi-scripted scenes.

Amtrak is government owned, over priced, unreliable and takes days to cross the country. It costs more than a flight and takes 3 days to cross the country.

Counter-argument: Amtrak in the US. (Majority of Amtrak issues are because all US rail is legally prioritized to freight haulers and passenger trains have to wait for an opening. )

Trump did what no other president would even dream of doing. He cleared house, fired everybody and installed boot lickers in every position of power. The DOJ, the FBI, the Pentagon, everything. And the GOP is terrified to stand against him after his loyal voters destroyed careers at his whim.

There isn't, because they made the SNW Enterprise all touch screens too, even though it's pre-Kirk. They just decided new audiences needed touch screens to believe it's the future. The Enterprise got a refit in-between being on Discovery and SNW. Went from looking like OG to modern.
