This makes no sense - we've always been able to vote for two At-Large candidates. TWO. AT THE SAME TIME. So if Oye gets all the votes, we're going to be short a council member? Make it make sense.

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to tour the Mary McLeod Bethune House in DC & learned about the role she and Dr. Dorothy Height played in the March on Washington. It's not an overstatement to say it wouldn't have happened without them. www.nps.gov/mamc/index.htm

OH! That’s who she is! Never heard the song (if it’s not jazz, blues, funk, hip hop, R&B &/or sung by someone who’s long since passed, I prob don’t know it), but I’ve seen that commercial about a million times.

Your neighborhood library is also your neighborhood movie theater. 🎬 Our libraries host movie nights throughout the year, from new releases to classics and everything in between. Check out what’s screening at a library near you and make it a movie night.
Library movie night schedule poster featuring events at different locations:

1. Bellevue Saturday Cinema: Horror movies including "Good Boy," "Together," "Late Night with the Devil," "Nanny," and "Horror Noire" at Bellevue Library, Saturdays at 3 p.m.

2. Monday Movie Night: "Hokum" screening at Georgetown Library, Mondays at 5 p.m.

3. Terrific Movie Tuesday: "Good Night and Good Luck" at Chevy Chase Library, Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

4. Tenley Movie Night: "Ghostbusters" (1984) at Tenley-Friendship Library, Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

5. Family Movie Monday: "Practical Magic" at Petworth Library, Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

The bottom includes a DC Public Library logo.

Spouse works in tech and there were MANY MANY episodes where we had to pause the show, often multiple times, because he was laughing so hard he'd fallen out of his chair &/or couldn't breathe.

True story, but not mine: A friend was interviewing for a job as a copy editor. The CEO unexpectedly joined the interview: "I see on your resume you were a standup comedian. Were you any good?" My friend: "Well, I'm an editor now." He got the job.

One of the things I loved about Treme was the refusal to dumb down NOLA culture. If something happens you don't understand, we aren't wasting time explaining it to you (we'll leave that up to the weekly Times-Picayune recaps). And it was from the jump, with the first episode & the Indians.

Pro tip: 7th St NE. No bike lanes, but also low traffic due to the fact that it doesn’t continuously cross several state streets from a car perspective.

I forget which food critic it was, but when asked about dining in chains, their response was to pick a steakhouse. They do the volume to get good cuts at good prices, and the food is simple enough that it'll be good even if it's not fancy.

Also seems like something where an enterprising CM could sit down w/ a few proprietors: "We know people want this & YOU want it bc you'll be able to sell more bevs if folks can buy & roam rather than you hitting capacity, so we passed a bill & it's not working. Tell me why so we can fix it."

Particularly as we move into neighborhood fest season - Adams Morgan Day today, H Street Festival next weekend, then Adams Morgan Porch Fest, then Ward 6 Porch Fest. Trying to cram everyone who wants a bev into tiny fenced off areas rather than letting them roam is maddening.

It also wrecks the thing that's fun about being a sportsball fan in the first place: being a fan of A TEAM, totally embracing the insanity that is loving a bunch of guys who have no idea you even exist and being elated or crushed by the trivial (in the grand scheme) fact of a won or lost game.
