Heading to Stanford next week for #SDDS2026. In 7 months, Evoquant has built: - A 5.2M biosynthetic gene cluster atlas - An AI platform predicting natural product–target interactions - A wet-lab pipeline with confirmed bioactivity in 6/6 validation cases (15 in progress) 🧵

First extracts went out for antibiotic testing this week. Still waiting for some additional pipettes from Thermo Fisher (to the point they are sending loaners in the meantime) at which point we can finally start our anticancer and immune modulator assays.

Claude is in a tizzy
Given the user says both should be int, and chembl_id is a string, the molecule uid should likely be molregno. But in load_molecules, chembl_id is renamed to uid and used throughout. Let me check the compound section where ChemblMolecule(properties={"uid": row.chembl_id}) is used — that's a string. The user wants int, so these should use molregno instead, or the chembl_id should not be renamed.
Actually, re-reading: the user is just saying the types are int — meaning str() wrapping on TAXID uid is wrong, and the chembl_id rename to uid in molecules is wrong (should keep molregno as uid). But wait — in the original code, molecules used chembl_id as uid too. And in compounds, ChemblMolecule(properties={"uid": row.chembl_id}) uses the string chembl_id.

Not enough people seem to be concerned about the cost of owning computers right now. The price of the RAM in Evoquant's workstation computer:

Evoquant's first set of bacterial strains are growing. We now have several strains in culture as we begin evaluating our novel strategy for obtaining bioactive and novel natural products. Photo is of one of the strains growing on a minimal agar media.
