I thought the @districtcon.bsky.social year 0 badge was one of the most beautiful pieces of PCB art I’d ever seen w the cherry blossoms and the backlit LED, so I finally got around to making it into a little night light for my office.

It is the tradition of my people that upon returning from a journey I must present tribute, and if the tribute is deemed acceptable, I will be welcomed back into the tribe.

I made cigar box dev kits for my friends (maybe the best embedded hackers in the world) for Christmas this year. We use them at work for portable embedded RE/dev. Used two Arturo Fuente boxes.

Looking for recs for burning PCBs as an art project - I used a butane torch but it’s a little uncontrollable what burns and sometimes it delams…I can use a soldering iron but it takes a long time…

@wbm312.bsky.social gave me this payphone pin @shmoocon.bsky.social one time and it’s the coolest pin I’ve ever seen, and I kept thinking I needed to save it for special occasions but it’s too cool not to display, so it’s on the bag now next to the pirate jelly (that I made).

I like to use cigar boxes for this purpose with a switchable USB hub (the Camacho tube has jumper wires in it).

Memories from DistrictCon 0 (lots of fun and great talks yesterday due to the persistence of the volunteers) - view from the hotel they sent refugees to…this morning you can see a pile of old cable bits in a dump truck and several spool trucks ready to run new lines.
