Jumping off Mike's Hot Take and her augment fear, I think La'an should have been more positive/supportive of The Admiral's plan, arguing its strategic value as a deterrent/warning to whoever sent out the raider. Only backing down to neutral not against after his outburst.

Proposed episode fix: it's Rascals kinda they are turned into young Lanthanites. We learn that baby/rag dolls, "Pinocchio" stories, haunted dolls, modern puppets are all based on humans misunderstandings seeing Lanthanites interact with their young. Near immortality and odd psychology explained ✅️

In the episode the point is made that Kirk is the most not a main character to show up in a Star Trek series and I would like to counter that with Gul Dukat. He was always "just in the neighborhood", picking up the comm whenever anyone called Cardassia, or on a unfriendly bridge.

What's frustrating to me about A'Sha as a character is that because of the way the show has recently portrayed Vulcans she can't just be a Vulcan with a bad attitude. Let's see her argue/get along with the Tellarites onboard. Let her be a counter weight to Uhura's optimism but as an individual

Sadly for me, this episode contains a running Down: scale. Both the size of The Enterprise and where it is spacially to objects "near" it. Especially when there is a contradiction like in this episode Spock says we need to keep our distance, the visual say we can reach out and touch it

If set in the 32nd Century steal the idea of Babylon 5 a station set in neutral territory were diplomats (former Federation, rising powers, Federation, etc.), merchants, travelers, and wanderers can interact, navigate, and negotiate. Put Saru and T'Rina in authority positions-fans like them!

I think every Star Trek has to answer the question of why does the Quadrant(s) need The Federation? The War College I see as part of both Discovery and Academy's answer. Without it, we go back to focusing on winning wars, not building peace.
