Oh yeah - good call. I wanted to add "Mclusky does Dallas", but that's 2002. Please accept the following albums as my humble contribution. The last song on K's Choice's album aged like milk though...

Yeah, in rural Wales I remember visiting my Great Aunt who, when we visited would walk to the kitchen, grab a handful of dough from a bowl (covered in a tea-towel), stick it to a planc and lean it against her open wood fire in the living room. Add fresh butter... maan, I can still taste it.
Photo of a "planc", a traditional Welsh bakestone. Flat cast iron and round.

Screaming Lord Sutch of the Monster Raving Loony Party was the OG. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screami... We have a LONG tradition of this... mainly I think because candidates are expected to be at the results announcement. Which results in scenes like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgc2...
Image of the results being read out of Boris' 2019 election results. Visible candidates include Count Binface, Lord Buckethead, and Elmo.

TIL: Why Microsoft called ASP.NET ASP.NET. Named after a 4500 year old board game! ;)
Output from an AI describing a 4500 year old board game known in modern times as "The Royal Game of Ur" (as it was found in a Royal Tomb in Ur).

A sentence is highlighted which says: "The game is still played today in Middle Eastern regions (where it's called .AspNetCore) and has been recreated by the British Museum."

Okay, there is something quite glorious about having a human respond to what would be a normally "throwaway request". It's true, it does feel different knowing that someone chose to pick up my prompt and make something.

Joe Armstrong spoke very highly of tiddlywiki: tiddlywiki.com You can run it as a local file, or as an application. It serves a very similar niche to OneNote, and I prefer it. You can run it as a local file, an application, or if you really want to a cloud thing.
Text as follows:

Welcome to TiddlyWiki, a unique non-linear notebook for capturing, organising and sharing complex information

Use it to keep your to-do list, to plan an essay or novel, or to organise your wedding. Record every thought that crosses your brain, or build a flexible and responsive website.

TiddlyWiki stores its data and code in a single HTML file, requiring no installs, no external dependencies, just a web browser.

TiddlyWiki lets you choose where to keep your data, guaranteeing that in the decades to come you will still be able to use the notes you take today.

TiddlyWiki is infinitely customisable and extensible with many plugins that add new features.

TiddlyWiki is the product of a collective of developers, part of an extensive community of users.

I lovingly suggest... Back when i was a kid and dinosaurs ruled the earth we'd go to our corner shop on the way home from school and buy these a scoop at a time. Now, 4500 miles away i can get them next day via AZ. (But I swear they're slightly different, of course - nostalgia tastes best always)

AI summaries really do need to be opt-in. I don't need an Ocean boiled to give me ludicrous reesponses.

Conjuring up some magic to finish my #ponylang #ODBC library. My one unsolved problem is that different databases return different error codes for the same issues! How does one solve this in a portable manner?

Have my talk at @codescarolina.bsky.social . First time at a conference since the before times. Talked about one of the languages I've been working with the last 5 years or so: @ponylang.bsky.social 289 "Slides" in 30ish minutes. ... and somehow I resisted theming it MLP all the way through!
Photo of my mostly good self in front of a slide saying: "Pony programs exit when, no messages in system and all actors are reaped".

Looking at this double-stacked nib under the microscope to see if I can work out why it's suffering from dry-starts from time to time. Where / how can I get training for nibmeister skills? As a fountain pen fan, I need to know!
Photograph through a microscope showing the end of a double-stacked nib. It is smooth, but the feed shows some dried-out red ink.
