Our newest WA State report finds for almost 3 years, filings are about 45% above the pre-pandemic norm, with no sign of a return. evictionresearch.net/washington/ 1 in 47 renter households faced an #eviction filing in the past year, while 1 in 2 renters are already cost-burdened.

Federal aid usually misses the places that need it most. The $46.6B pandemic Emergency Rental Assistance program didn't. First national evaluation (UC Berkeley + Penn HIP): ERA reached the highest-risk neighborhoods, and prevented #eviction there. evictionresearch.net/hud-era/

Under President Biden, a 30-day eviction notice rule was made permanent. A new bill would erase it and landlords would be allowed to give tenants in federally-subsidized housing three days’ notice or less before evicting them. @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/r...

HUD is struggling to meet even a fraction of the country's need at current funding levels & the Secretary is bragging about the richest man on Earth finding $260 million in mystery savings? This is so far removed from reality.
Screenshot of an X post from Scott Turner (@SecretaryTurner) posted on February 11, 2025, at 5:55 PM:

Text of the post: "Working with @DOGE, we have identified $260 million in savings at @HUDgov.

The American taxpayer is no longer writing a blank check for federal contracts and programs.

Americans voted for reform and we’re delivering it for @POTUS."

Below the text is an embedded image featuring a split-screen news broadcast. On the left, Scott Turner is speaking to the camera. On the right side of the split-screen, is an image of the HUD building .

At the bottom of the image, a news banner displays: "REAL AMERICA'S VOICE
