Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 29/09/2026I guess that fan on the pi 5 was good for something after all 000
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 12/09/2026It works but the 'short' railkit was still too deep for my little rack 😭 000
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 12/09/2026Cute new server alert. HP proliant DL20. The internet said it was quiet. 100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 12/09/2026Installed some quiet fans in the mikrotik switch. Peace has returned. #homelab #mikrotik #noctua 130
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 11/07/2026Pretty funny juxposition. Here are some stats from an open source project I maintain: Weekly downloads 110
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 11/07/2026Joining the 10gbe club this weekend! Long waited for a good second hand deal for this router and finally got it 1100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 23/05/2026Found a 300 page book about JSON at the library. And it's only the beginning. 2121
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 16/05/2026Whenever I see this title in my steam library, I just think of an older person who's still on facebook 0111

Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 22/03/2026Gopher client / HTTP Proxy update! This is probably as far as I'm gonna take this for now. If people care, I might add search support or try to do some ports to native desktop clients, but we'll see. burrow.din.gy #GopherProtocol #gopher #retrocomputing 142
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 06/03/2026Yesterday we saw the most _new_ NPM packages being released in the last 12 months, at 2804 packages. Pretty steady upward trajectory here, unlike we've ever seen. This graph is spiky because it's daily data and weekends are lower. 093
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 02/03/2026Some progress this weekend from my new Gopher client. Might do a Gnome port at some point. Not a fan of the design inside the main frame yet, so most of my creative effort will go there next #gopherprotocol 110
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 01/03/2026Well, some progress. Not unhappy! Below, a screenshot of my Gopher browser, written in HTML / CSS. #GopherProtocol 132
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 30/01/2026Doing some analytics with #NPM and this is the distribution of how many downloads NPM packages typically get. 281
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 03/12/2025Picked up a $10 dell thin client, hoping it can be my Windows 3.11 or at most Windows 98 happy place. Hoping that removing the CMOS battery clears the bios password! 130
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 26/11/2025The top licenses published on #npm . Number #2 is interesting because it's not really a well-known one, but it's the default choice when running `npm init`, so it likely represents all the people that just pressed enter without having an opinion. [1/2] 4164
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 06/10/2025This is on a Dell Wyse 5090 'Extended' thin client, which is my favourite system right now and will be my main media server at home. You can pick it up for $50 on ebay, and runs 5 Watt idle. Check out these ports though! 120
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 06/10/2025Process list on a clean Debian install is so short! Feels nice to start with such a minimal system. Know every process and why it's running and add what I need. Only sshd was added at this point #homelab #linux #debian 150
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 29/07/2025It still melts my brain that they fit 400,000,000,000 of something on a microSD which is the size of a pinky fingernail. 120
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 20/07/2025Spotted at local second hand shop: some kind of yahoo audio device with an analog gauge for bitrate 031
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 07/07/2025This screenshot is from the CRA (Canadian Tax). I feel the "Secure' label teaches users to blindly trust that image when it appears elsewhere. What's the point of it? 000
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 18/06/2025But I'm excited to learn about IOS in the future, which, yes is the name of the operating system well before Apple took took it (in a classic Apple move) 100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 18/06/2025Today all cables arrived, so it's time to see if it can be revived. Very much inspired by the clabretro youtube channel www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nBvuuuTR0E 100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 18/06/2025Randomly found a Cisco terminal server from 2003 at a local second hand shop. Always been interested in these and learning about it It has some cool ports! DB-60?? #retrocomputing 130
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 10/04/2025Love/hate relationship with Stack Overflow, but I just crossed 100K reputation somehow! 🎉 020
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 20/02/2025Now have my record player hooked up to my traktor mixer and controlled via pipewire / helvium so I can listen to prog rock on my headphones while working but dont have to switch out anything for calls. Completely overkill setup but I had the equipment so why not wire it all up 040
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 17/02/2025I think Linux is ahead of WIndows and Mac in terms of the Audio system (pipewire). It's so fun to use. Good defaults, but you can pop open the hood and go wild with directing audio. 100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 04/12/2024Finally some data. Computer will almost certainly crash if I would try to open linkedin, which oddly always freezes my computer. Down to the last ~200 megs. 100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 02/12/2024i know some of y'all are eager to get an update on this quest. I get crashes once or twice per day still, but still no data. So I'm resorting to running `smem` every 30 seconds and writing to a log. If I crash again we'll know it's a memory issue and hopefully which process did it. 100
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 27/11/2024in case anyone was curious, the top memory eaters after a reboot. Lets see how this list changes as the day progresses: 200
Evert Pot @evertpot.com · 16/10/2024Anyone remember Comic Chat? I was completely enamored! #retrocomputing 130
