Yes, as someone who has also experienced homelessness, I do feel guilty. I know it's only luck separating me from people I see on the street, and whenever I can I stop to say hi or offer to get them a sandwich and a hot/cold drink. It helps a bit with the guilt.

You can tweak your CV to hide your age, even if it means just putting down volunteering experience. Part time/minimum wage jobs won't greatly care about your age, they want someone who won't leave for a better job. And there are lots of people who haven't worked because they had kids young!

I feel this, having no employment history at age 30. It's hard but not as impossible as you think. I volunteered in a charity shop for 6 months and now have a job offer. I know it's different bc I have degrees now, but tbh they hindered more than helped (made me overqualified for 'unskilled' jobs)

(Which reminds me of the terrible experience I had the one time I went to a sexual health clinic, where I was asked whether being bisexual meant that I "had sex with gay men"...)

Can't be prescribed Prep, and can't get the Hep B vaccine either (unless you pay the full cost yourself). I see it as a bi erasure issue. They forget bi men exist and have sex with women, who then end up being at higher risk too.

My feedback today from my employment coach at a service for autistic people was that my lists sound like I'm listing things off, which is "too list-y".

Which is potentially a lot more inappropriate. That's how I took it at the time, anyway. I probably gave the examiner a laugh by answering "because she might get pregnant"

My GCSE French exam had a section about a girl who wanted to go on holiday alone with her boyfriend and one of the questions was "why might her parents not want her to go away with him?"

When I got summoned, my therapist, who used to be a lawyer, advised me to find an exemption if possible (thankfully I was a student at the time), because of the potential for an upsetting case. So, I'm fairly sure that's a no.

It's so hard to tell with cramps because we get told so much that they're 'normal'! Especially when you're used to sitting through them without reacting outwardly. Mine a few days ago were so bad I couldn't move and felt like I'd been pinned to the bed through the womb, and I was just like 😐

I admired him a lot and I didn't get to know him as well as I wanted to before our time was cut short. I drew a portrait of him that he liked, which remains on his memorial page always now. A week ago I dreamt I saw and spoke to him, and he's been on my mind a lot since.

Edit: I was wrong; it's worse than that. In 2022, the rules changed so that *any tenancy* that lasted longer than 6 months continued *indefinitely*. They're actually claiming credit for re-introducing the loophole allowing landlords to end a tenancy after 6 years

Eve @eveamanda.eurosky.social · 24/02/2026
No, sorry, I'm wrong! Since 2022, *anyone* had the right to stay indefinitely if they'd been renting for over 6 months. So they actually made it worse 🫠 www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/r...

Tenants' rights to stay in rented accommodation
Security of tenure is a tenant’s right to stay in rented accommodation for a set amount of time.

Part 4 tenancies. You had the right to stay in a property for 6 years if you had lived there for at least 6 months. I think it was only if your tenancy started before 2022, but in 2022 they made it so anyone already in a Part 4 tenancy had the right to stay indefinitely.

Eve @eveamanda.eurosky.social · 24/02/2026
I've been waiting for someone to point out that the 'new' 6-year tenancies in Ireland are not new at all. People had already had these rights since 2016, and since 2004 for 4-year tenancies. Government are claiming credit for inventing what is essentially the pre-2022 rules #SpeirGorm
Citizens's Information website.
Part 4 tenancy:
You will automatically get security of tenure and can stay in the property for 6 years if:
- Your tenancy was created before 11 June 2022
- You have been renting for at least 6 months
- You haven't been served with a valid notice of termination
This is known as a Part 4 tenancy.
A Part 4 tenancy refers to Part 4 of the residential tenancies act 2004, which deals with security of tenure. If you have a periodic tenancy (a tenancy without a fixed length of time), you do not have to claim the Part 4 tenancy in writing, but you do need to claim it if you have a fixed-term lease.Under the old rules, security of tenure continued in 6-year cycles. But, from 11 June 2022, when your tenancy ends after 6 years, it will automatically become a tenancy of unlimited duration, if the landlord does not terminate it under the old rules.

New rules will apply for tenancies created after the 28 February 2026.Further Part 4 tenancy
For tenancies created before 11 June 2022, a new tenancy begins after the first 6-year cycle of your Part 4 tenancy. This new tenancy will now be a tenancy of unlimited duration, unless the landlord terminates it, see 'Landlords' right to end a tenancy every 6 years' below. However, under the old rules, you would have a further Part 4 tenancy.
When you have a Part 4 tenancy or further Part 4 tenancy, your landlord can only terminate your tenancy in certain circumstances. Read more about when a landlord can terminate your tenancyIf you have a fixed-term agreement and want to leave, you do not have to give a reason, but you must give the correct period of notice in writing - see 'Ending your tenancy'.
Landlords' right to end a tenancy every 6 years
If your tenancy was created before 11 June 2022, your landlord can terminate your tenancy after 6 years for any reason. This is only allowed if:
- the landlord served a notice of termination before the end of the 6 years
- the notice period expired on or after the end of the tenancy
If the tenancy is not ended and a new tenancy begins after 6 years, the new tenancy will be of unlimited duration, and this rule will not be applied.

They're hoping people won't know the rules and will leave after a year because they think they have to. 6-year tenancies were already a thing (Part 4 tenancies), it just wasn't advertised.

It hasn't even been a week since my interview. I don't know if they interviewed me out of a sense of obligation and never seriously considered me, or if they just didn't tell me the truth, but both are shitty considering what they do and the update to the job advert certainly doesn't look good. (4)

...I woke up this morning and checked my usual job alert emails to see that they had re-listed the job, specifying "no previous applicants need apply". They had also changed 'disabled and neurodivergent' in the description to 'disabled and dyslexic'. The word neurodivergent is gone from the ad. (3)

Today I scoured the charity shops for a sugar bowl and was blessed with this find. It was £2. I'm obsessed with it ❤️
A painted ceramic sugar bowl. The bowl has a lattice basket pattern with an edge resembling ruffled fabric, and the lid has a relief of brightly-coloured flowers, leaves and grapes. The handle to lift the lid is shaped like a little blue bird.

LEDs are very very cheap to run compared to regular light bulbs, they only use a tiny amount of power. I had the same string of LED Christmas lights as my bedroom lights for a decade!

He says in his video that his dating life sometimes worked out and sometimes didn't. Which is... normal. He wanted more 'consistency', which sounds like he's complaining the left didn't offer cheat codes that made all women like him. There's a reason only right wing grifters offer that!

When I was on dating apps, openly bi in my profile, it was VERY common for 'straight' men who messaged me to tell me they were actually also bi, but hiding it because it put so many women off.

As well as all the other important reasons to go out and vote for Catherine Connolly today, you will get to enjoy the feeling of seeing your candidate win and knowing you helped it happen. That doesn't happen very often for most of us in FF/FG constituencies, so take advantage of it!

If you're wondering about the state of public transport in the West of Ireland, the bus that stops at Knock Airport was cancelled and they only run every 3 hours, so I had to spend €83 on a taxi. Honestly ridiculous that there isn't a dedicated airport bus. #SpeirGorm

Every lock box is for a different Airbnb rental, meaning this building in Galway has 13 of them. It's related to homelessness because of the shortage of long-term rental accommodation in Ireland, which is exacerbated by so many properties being let as Airbnbs because it's more profitable.
