The EV depreciation argument has aged like milk from a three-legged diesel cow. 😂 First EVs were too expensive. Then falling new-EV prices were somehow bad. Then those same price cuts were used as proof that used EVs suffered terrible depreciation.

EV depreciation fears are overblown. The real gap is just 2.6%, not 12.9%, once subsidies, taxes & falling new EV prices are adjusted for. As used #EV demand grows & running costs stay low, ICE faces rising pressure. The narrative is about to flip, and disruption is moving into the used-car market.

DEALERS REFUSING DIESELS AS EV TRADE-INS This won’t surprise those following disruption, but headline is evocative, and I suspect trend becomes global as soon as by this year. With diesel above £2/litre in the UK, specialist EV dealers are reporting a surge of people looking to switch to electric.

Plug-in #EV share of new passenger-car sales/registrations around August 2026, counting BEVs + PHEVs/EREVs. The remarkable thing isn’t Norway approaching 100%. It’s who else is on the list. Different continents. Different incomes. Different grids. Different governments. Same technological S-curve.

In 2010, the Nissan Leaf arrived as the world’s first mass-produced EV ordinary buyers could own: a five-seat electric hatchback, no exotic price, no tiny production run. It eventually passed 600,000 global sales. Its real breakthrough was perception. It proved an EV could simply be someone’s car.

Solar passed nuclear in Texas 2 years ago. Now it's double. Texas is what makes this chart powerful. This isn't green ideology winning. It's pure economics. Solar is cheap, modular, scalable & incredibly fast to deploy. Wind keeps growing too. When economics take over, ideology becomes irrelevant.

When a reporter asked psychopath Trump on 9/11 if his building was damaged, he said, 'Now it's the tallest'—as thousands died, still dying and New York burned. The boast was false. Then America elected him twice as POTUS anyway. That says everything about us. Think about it....

Calling EV 'just a car' misses point—like calling smartphone 'just a phone'. It's a software platform & AI. Driving becomes incidental, as calls did. The smartphone absorbed cameras, GPS, maps;EV absorbs energy, compute, auto. We repeat 'horseless carriage'. EV isn't a better car; it's a new system.

Tesla deserves credit for changing the car industry. It proved #EVs could beat ICE on performance & desirability, drove battery scale, pioneered software-defined cars & built the Supercharger network when industry doubted EVs had a future. Tesla disrupted the incumbents. Now Tesla is an incumbent.

The part of the energy transition that matters most: the cost curves. In 15 years, batteries fell ~93%. Utility solar ~90%. When foundational technologies get ~10× cheaper, they don't just take market share. They restructure entire industries. And the curves haven't stopped. #Bettrification #SWB

For the past few years, one of the loudest arguments against the AI boom has been its enormous & rapidly growing demand for electricity. That concern is legitimate. But look deeper at what that demand is unleashing: a massive accelerant for the renewable energy buildout. The Trojan Horse of Energy!

It’s actually brilliant policy. Don’t ban coal or gas, let them compete. For NEW data-centre demand, make proponents prove to the AER that new fossil beats firmed renewables on cost and reliability. On current new-build economics, the practical chance is zero. Let maths decide. Cost always wins 🏆

Solar hit 3 TW, with each new terawatt arriving faster than last. My forecast: 9 TW by 2029 (BNEF says >9 TW by 2036), 13 TW by 2030 & 42 TW by 2035. Duck curve = price signal, not ceiling. Batteries, grids & flexible demand accelerate the cycle. Traditional linear forecasts keep lagging reality.

Nothing depreciates faster than a tank of fuel. Yes, EVs depreciate. So do petrol cars. But one burns hundreds monthly that vanish forever. 'Fuel depreciation' & oil volatility deserve much higher public scrutiny. It's a case of sunken assets vs energy-independent households. #EV #Bettrification

One of the most significant aspects of this isn't just the 45% reduction. It's that IEA explicitly attributed it to the combination of solar, wind and battery storage reducing reliance on expensive gas generation. That's a major milestone, theory is now being reflected in real-world market outcomes.
Square infographic promoting Australia's clean energy transition. The background shows a large wind turbine at sunset overlooking rows of solar panels and a battery energy storage facility, reinforcing the connection between renewable generation and energy storage. The design uses a dark navy background with bright green and white typography for strong visual contrast.

At the top, large bold text reads: "AUSTRALIA LEADS THE CLEAN ENERGY REVOLUTION." To the upper right is a circular badge stating "CONFIRMED BY THE IEA."

The central message states: "According to the IEA, Australia's wholesale electricity prices were about 45% lower." The "45%" is displayed in oversized white numerals, with the word "LOWER" highlighted in bright green beneath it, making it the dominant visual element.

Along the bottom are three green circular icons with supporting text. The first icon combines a wind turbine and solar panel and reads: "Driven by strong growth in renewables." The second icon shows a battery and reads: "And rapidly expanding battery storage." The third icon shows a crossed-out gas flame and reads: "Reducing reliance on expensive gas generation."

A boxed statement in the lower right concludes: "Delivering exactly what economics predicted."

The lower left includes a small EV Curve Futurist logo. Along the bottom edge is the source attribution: "Source: IEA – Electricity Mid-Year Update 2026."

The overall design communicates that Australia's falling wholesale electricity prices are being attributed by the International Energy Agency to the combined impact of solar, wind and battery storage reducing dependence on expensive gas-fired generation, presenting the result as a real-world example of clean energy delivering lower electricity costs.

While US doubles down on more oil, coal & gas, China is investing billions to help the Global South leapfrog the fossil fuel era altogether. One nation is spending enormous effort protecting the past. The other is investing in building the future. History won't rewards those who fight progress.
A bold split-panel infographic contrasts two competing visions for the future. The left side is dark and smoky, showing oil pumpjacks, coal plants, industrial pollution, and a worn U.S. flag. Large white and red text reads: "WHILE THE U.S. DOUBLES DOWN ON MORE OIL, COAL & GAS." Below are icons labeled "MORE OIL," "MORE COAL," and "MORE GAS," reinforcing the message of continued fossil fuel expansion. The imagery conveys pollution, aging infrastructure, and reliance on traditional energy.

The right side is bright and colorful, featuring solar panels, wind turbines, a high-speed electric train, green landscapes, and a modern city skyline under blue skies. Large white and green text reads: "CHINA IS INVESTING BILLIONS TO HELP THE GLOBAL SOUTH LEAPFROG THE FOSSIL FUEL ERA ALTOGETHER." Green icons highlight clean energy, energy storage, modern infrastructure, and jobs and economic growth, emphasizing investment in low-carbon development.

A prominent "VS" symbol separates the two halves. Along the bottom, contrasting banners state: "ONE NATION IS PROTECTING THE PAST" on the left and "THE OTHER NATION IS BUILDING THE FUTURE" on the right. The final message, in large white and yellow lettering, reads: "HISTORY WON'T REWARD THOSE WHO FIGHT PROGRESS."

The poster uses dramatic color contrast, oversized typography, and symbolic imagery to present an opinionated comparison between continued fossil fuel development and investment in clean energy and infrastructure.

Hopium is believing finance doesn't matter. That investors will cheer a 20-year, billion-dollar bet while solar, wind, and batteries get cheaper every quarter. Hopium is believing a plant that needs 90%+ utilization to breathe can survive in a grid drowning in near-zero marginal cost electrons.
Infographic titled "Nuclear Hopium: It's Not About Engineering. It's About Economics." comparing the economics of nuclear power with solar, wind and battery storage. The left panel lists common "nuclear hopium" beliefs, including that economics no longer matter, investors will fund 10–20 year projects despite falling renewable and battery costs, batteries will stop getting cheaper, and electricity markets will resemble today's. It concludes that the engineering challenge was solved decades ago and the remaining challenge is financial.

The central panel compares new capacity added globally from 2014–2023, stating solar added about 2,670 GW versus 40 GW for nuclear. After accounting for average capacity factors (around 20% for solar and 85–90% for nuclear), it claims solar still delivered roughly 16× more average power output, or about 1,470% more.

The lower sections explain that wind also added comparable average power after capacity adjustments, while batteries increase the value of renewable generation by shifting energy, reducing curtailment and replacing gas peakers. A "bigger picture" section highlights rapid growth in solar, wind and battery manufacturing, contrasted with rising costs and longer construction times for many new nuclear projects.

The footer argues that energy investment decisions are ultimately driven by financial returns rather than engineering capability, contrasting the question "Can we build it?" with "Should we build it?" The graphic features solar panels, wind turbines and battery storage containers in the background, with EV Curve Futurist branding in the top-right corner.

Funny how some are focused on the pixels instead of the message. The artwork was AI-generated. The facts weren't. Every statistic was sourced & verifiable. If AI helps more people engage with the energy transition, I'll happily keep using it. Clearly, it reached a lot of people. That was the point.
