I feel like if I was some nobody ensign assigned to the Enterprise I'd feel safe and be proud to serve under Picard. But if I was some nobody ensign assigned to Deep Space 9 I'd know that I could go have a chat with my commanding officer at a moment's notice and he'd take time to really listen.
