Content should accurately represent what a user will experience. Names, tags, descriptions, images, acknowledgements, and previews (including thumbnails) should not be misleading. If your content looks different in VRChat than in the images you've used to showcase it, users may have a negative experience.

I finally got around to reviewing VRChat on Steam.

A "Not Recommended" Steam review of VRChat, with 4,805 hours on record. It reads:

A lot of the negative reviews for VRChat are about the people. There are good and genuine people on here past the public instances & weird places, which have the bad people you find on every platform, not just VRChat.

I'm immunocompromized and have long Covid, making real-world outings exhausting and dangerous, so I found a home for myself in the better places here.

I spent 2 years creating 40+ worlds for this platform, visited by almost 2 million people. I made them by hand and with love.

Now, what would take me weeks to create, an AI can generate in mere minutes. The resulting product can be freely uploaded and monetized on VRChat with no restrictions. The worlds tab is starting to fill with AI-generated slop pandering to the players who don't know better.

VRChat's official response to the community begging for at least the ability to tag AI-generated worlds & avatars is to say nothing, hide or delete messages & comments about it and turn off replies/reposts on their social media posts.

This platform's management has shown how little they care for their team and the creatives that make their product worth playing by refusing to even address the AI-generated elephant in the room.

so, a while back, i spent like a week figuring out constraints, begged help from 2 other creators and finally figured out how to use aim constraints to make robot legs work properly this setup in the fbx importer accomplishes the exact same thing btw

I'm done here - VRChat and AI Generated Content
It's become clear to me over the past months that VRChat is okay with AI generated worlds and assets. The only official comment I have received about this only reinforced that fact. They do not want to ban AI.

I do not have any motivation to continue creating for a platform that doesn't care about human creation over simple profits at the expense of its users' experience. With the newer AI models being capable of generating an entire decent-looking world in a click, I know this will only get worse.

I am stopping all attempts to monetize, setting many of my worlds to private & moving on with my life, though I do not know to where. I've spent my whole life running from AI - moving from medium to medium, trying to find something worth making into my life. Though I really, genuinely thought I'd found it, this platform is not that.

Thank you all so much for the love and support. You all are why I fought these feelings of hopelessness for so long. I hope my actions here will be the start of actual protest against this slew of AI generated slop content on this platform.
