Thanks, Tom! And congratulations! I hope our paths cross once again.

Eugene Ramos @eugeneramos.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

In this clip from the rehearsal, Tom goes at a moment’s notice from exasperated yet loyal friend of Isaac Newton to cynical spy with simmering resentment over his double life. His interpretation of Halley informed all subsequent rewrites, and I credit much of the screenplay’s success to him. 2/3

Congratulations to Tom Pelphrey on his Emmy win on Monday. I worked with Tom 15 years ago when he was cast in a reading of “Newton’s Laws Emotion” at the Hamptons Film Fest. His portrayal of astronomer Edmund Halley made me see a depth in the character I hadn’t seen before. (see video below) 1/3

It was hosted by @georgetakei.bsky.social, @wilwheaton.net and “Enterprise” writer/producer Andre Bormanis. I won a trip to Vegas, a MacBook, and a meeting with Andre. The best part, of course, was the friends I made. We went on to write several books together (which are still up on Amazon).

A belated Happy Star Trek Day! I have never written professionally for #StarTrek, but back in 2007 I was the grand prize winner in the official Star Trek scriptwriting competition — Star Trek: Kirk vs. Picard! Below is the teaser CBS released about the contest. 🖖

My #TaylorSwift -inspired pilot script — “The Swiftie Detective Agency” — made the Second Round of the #AustinFilmFestival ‘s Script Competition!

Of course! The foom festival is the scene of the crime.

I love how Austin calls you to congratulate you. My favorite part is that my phone transcribed TSDA as The Swiss Detective Agency. Perhaps that should be my next script.🇨🇭

I decided to submit a couple of scripts to 2 screenplay contests. First time in years. Last week I got the dreaded rejection email from Final Draft. But this week both scripts — The HOA and The Swiftie Detective Agency — received the distinction of Second Rounder from the Austin Film Fest. 1/2

It was my birthday, so I splurged on some records. (Who knew 5 records would cost so much?) - Natalie Merchant’s Tigerlily (MoFi) - 25th anniversary of Dido’s No Angel - Grace Potter’s Medicine - 50th anniversary of Linda Ronstadt’s Hasten Down the Wind - Signed Phoebe Bridger’s Lost Weekend

For help with my educational blind spots, I used this 2,900-page encyclopedia from 1990, which cost $130 at the time. I picked it up for $6 at a thrift store last year. Writing all those clues under such a tight deadline was one of the most challenging creative endeavors I’ve ever undertaken!

Eugene Ramos @eugeneramos.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

I recently applied to be a writer on Jeopardy. First, I had to take the contestants’ test, which was harder than I expected. Then I had to come up with 63 clues (an entire episode plus 2 extra final Jeopardy clues) for my application.

I wasn’t picked for the Anarchists Fellowship. I’m disappointed bc the program is headed by Lilly Wachowski, co-creator of my favorite movie, The Matrix. However, I was a finalist, which tells me that I’m doing something right with this silly, little love letter to Taylor Swift.

Throughout the entire process from rewrites to editing, we tried to outdo each other’s silly ideas. We were laughing the whole time we were shooting this. Hope you find it funny, too!

Eugene Ramos @eugeneramos.bsky.social · 14/01/2026

When I pitched the idea to director @tracywriter.bsky.social, she couldn’t stop laughing. She then said, “I can’t wait to film you doing that!” I was mortified. Writers don’t act. At least this writer doesn’t.

Finished my new pilot. My reps have been asking me for a crime-show script. This is what I came up with instead. It’s “Only Murders” if the main characters were #Swifties. #TaylorSwift #TS #TV #TVpilot #TVwriter #WGAStaffingBoost

Just wanted to add: In explaining to a friend what Peter David meant to me, I texted, “He was the first author I read that made me want to do what he does — move people with the written word.”

020

Eugene Ramos @eugeneramos.bsky.social · 25/05/2025

I got a chance to talk to him a few times over the years at conventions. And a few years ago, he bought and edited my first professional short story, which meant the world to me. Rest in peace, Peter. You will be missed.

Eugene Ramos @eugeneramos.bsky.social · 25/05/2025

His Star Trek novels taught me structure, narrative construction, and the importance of explosive third acts. During the summer after my sister died, his Starfleet Academy and New Frontier books were a needed escape from my darkest of thoughts.

One of my favorite writers, Peter David, passed away last night. If you don’t know his name, you’ll recognize some of his creations: Professor Hulk in the MCU and Spider-Man 2099 in the Spider-Verse movies. He was my biggest influence when I started writing at 13.

I think by the time all is said and done, those of us in the area will know at least one person who's been deeply affected by these fires. Consider helping out Devon and her sweet fam!

Hey all. I know there's A Lot going on all over the place right now but if you can spare a couple bucks, @devongiehl.bsky.social and the family lost their home in the Altadena fires. If you can afford to pitch in, please do! www.gofundme.com/f/join-tdp-f...

Lastly, for the resurrection of the unicorn skeleton, I wanted the moment to feel like it was out of a horror movie — a zombie climbing out of its grave. So I asked them to take a look at Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video. youtube.com/clip/Ugkx4bC...

After Claudia rediscovers the bridge to the Garden of Innocents, I have Claudia give Terry a “perpendicular smooch.” I thought it would be a fun opportunity to have our own version of the Spider-Man/Mary Jane upside-down kiss from the first Tobey Maguire movie.

In the script, I described Karim’s hands as being “encased inside a metal cylinder to prevent him from drawing runes.” I directed the animators to Uncanny X-Men #200 (1985) in which Magneto is shackled in special handcuffs on his way to his trial for crimes against humanity.

After writing “The Glittering Bones” episode (703) of #TheDragonPrince, I met with the animation team and gave them a bunch of visual references to help them see what I had in mind. (Below is the first pic I took of my unicorn skeleton back in Aug 2022.)
