Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Time travel IS very cool! I hope you've played Chrono Trigger, and if you haven't, I hope you add it to your bucket list - it's an absolutely magnificent game! 110

Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I'll accept that as long as we can agree that Sonic 2 is the best game if for no other reason than Chemical Plant Zone's theme. 110

Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 19/05/2026It's amazing. You'd think that, given how most of the people I know who are anti-Union are devoid of brains, hearts, and/or courage... That they'd listen to a friend of Dorothy. Weird. 010

Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026We can't singularly carry the torch. But collectively we can banish any darkness. Shine on, shine bright, and never forget to thank others for the warmth of their flame. His own may be extinguished, but my flame will burn with the radiance of his until I too pass on. May we all have that impact. 000
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Embrace your worth. Embrace yourself. You deserve peace. You deserve space. You deserve to breathe. And you taking up that space? Doesn't detract from others' lives: it can add to them immeasurably. When we step into full recognition of our and others' humanity? The world becomes brighter. /15 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026But if there's any request I have, it's this: Please. Please understand how much of a light you carry with you; how much it impacts others; how much brightness you add to the lives of, little doubt, so many people... just by doing the small things. It's not insignificant. It is everything. /14 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026To the many who have thusfar held myself and my family in their hearts, and to any who do so going forward: thank you. I really do appreciate the good vibes, the check-ins. And I really will be okay; I'm just... not, right now. /13 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026The Coroner's has yet to be concluded or published, but there's no signs of foul play, at least from early police reports. Tomorrow, there'll be a viewing at the Mortuary. Friday, he'll be cremated. "For from the dust you were created and to the dust you shall return." /12 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026I don't want to suggest his death wasn't a surprise: he had heart issues, culminating in an aortic dissection a few years back. But it came suddenly. He was out at a bar, drinking with friends and roommates, and the next day his body was discovered: he'd collapsed on his walk home. /11 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Our last conversation was actually about Union work, since his contract with OPEIU was up for renegotiation; he and I were a lot alike (and a lot different) in many ways. But he was one of the most accepting, understanding people I knew. /10 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026He worked with kids as an afterschool counselor; as a yard supervisor when he wasn't working another job; and primarily worked in hospitality as a server / house manager, or in the medical industry as a lab technician, where he was a Shop Steward for his Union. He just wanted to help people. /9 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026And I'm not a fool; he wasn't an Angel; he wasn't more than human. But he was beautifully, beautifully human. And he recognized, first and foremost, the humanity of others - it's the primary reason, I think, that he walked through life as he did: /8 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Not quiet, but peace. He got along with everyone he met, unless they turned out to be assholes. And even then, he was the sort of person that, if someone stole his wallet, his response probably would have been: "Well, that sucks, but they probably really needed it more than I did." /7 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Occasionally, he'd take the limelight during a round of Karaoke - his booming Bass/Baritone voice and capacity to rap were... unprecedented. But mostly, he highlighted, in this world, how little flash and pizazz actually matter in comparison to the pleasantry of the mundane... of peace. /6 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026He'd be the one checking in on you at a party; asking if you needed a break on a hike; pushing you for one rep more at the gym; washing dishes unprompted after Thanksgiving dinner; or (twist his arm) pouring another shot / grabbing another beer for the group. /5 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026But my heart? Man... it's stubborn. And in a way, I know it's going to win. Because his was the kind of light in this world that isn't easily snuffed by him no longer being around. His was the one you could always find; not booming or dramatic (though he could be at times): soft, and reliable. /4 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026She nor I (nor anyone else in my family) is a stranger to grief... but grief is funny; it comes sometimes on a whim. I'm not sure what stage of it I'm really on. Obviously depression, but... there's a lot of anger, too... and in a way, acceptance. I know he's gone. Or at least, my brain does. /3 100
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/05/2026I spent hours in bed crying. Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 14/02/2026My favorite part of Decepta Con so far has been people asking me "so, how much Clocktower have you played?" Only a few games. Obviously I still have a lot to experience. 120
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 30/01/2026Final day of bargaining... this one is going to be rough, but... as long as both parties can come together in pursuit of the same overall goal, I know we can succeed. Wish me luck; see you all on Sunday! 020
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026Conflict doesn't have to be scary. And indeed, those that would call on us to avoid it? Are ultimately just asking for a sort of blind obedience or compliance that is, frankly, terrifying. And what is primarily holding us back from collectively fashioning a world that is more equitable for ALL. 010
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026Well, so long as we all are individuals with our own thoughts and pursuits, and not drones of some large hive-mind. /6 110
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026This is a big part of why it is necessary to grow comfortable with conflict. Not violence; not hostility; but CONFLICT - that is: the intersection of opposing viewpoints, that requires a bit of navigation to ultimately resolve (ideally through compromise). It is a necessary part of humanity. /5 120
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026It is impossible and unreasonable for us, or anyone, to please absolutely everyone else, with any decision we make. And indeed, that should never be the goal: pursuit of that, in earnest, would only ever end in ultimate self-sacrifice. And while COMPROMISE is noble... sacrifice? Is not. /4 110
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026It is absolutely reasonable for us to have disagreement on certain issues, but the crux of working through those issues cannot depend on how someone FEELS more than it depends on how someone is IMPACTED. The former is ethereal; and highly subjective. The latter is tangible, and more objective. /3 110
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026We have got to, on the left, stop being led primarily by emotional appeals when it comes to individuals who don't give a DAMN about considering the impact of decisions when it comes to anyone else but themselves. /2 110
Etreides @etreides.bsky.social · 12/01/2026It's incredibly frustrating being on the receiving end of literally just... insult and dehumanization from people who are Anti-Union... And for their framing themselves as "meek," "unheard," "misunderstood" as a means of encouraging others to put aside their own interests when voting. /1 210
