Lex looks so small in Clark’s arms. <3 #smallville

I took out my Three Doors Down CD to put in The Calling, but then the radio played What’s My Age Again by Blink 182 followed by Story of a Girl by Nine Days! Thank you, radio! ;w;

He wants Clark to let him in so badly that he looks like he’s going to cry! He knows something happened the day Clark saved his life, but no matter how close he thinks he and Clark are, Clark won’t tell him the truth. He can tell he’s keeping secrets from him and lying. He can’t even trust his hero…

A close up shot of Lex Luthor from Smallville, looking out toward Clark (off-screen) as he walks away. A little shimmer is in Lex’s eye that could possibly be tears forming.

First proper drawing of Lex!
Here I go again, liking a character whose design doesn’t have my favorite thing to draw: hair. xD At the moment, I’m on season 1 episode 12. I’m excited to see what direction the story takes! Lex’s portrayal is especially interesting to me. He’s not shown as pure evil in the beginning, but he’s also not shown in a way that’s meant to make us pity him. It’s not like “oh, that poor boy neglected by his father who could never do anything wrong”. It’s more like… we expect him to do something wrong. Throughout the episodes, we’re purposely led to believe he’s the mastermind behind things! Episode 8 especially portrayed this, with how we’re supposed to think he knew about the secret facility where they used Kryptonite. Lex’s expressions and mannerisms are such that you think he’s a psychopathic liar. Thus… when the end of the episode reveals that he REALLY didn’t know about this dangerous project his father was working on, it makes us think OH, maybe I was wrong about him! Every episode pushes and pulls me and makes me WANT to believe in him, even though all evidence (especially the fact that his character is KNOWN to be Superman’s evil nemesis) points to him being untrustworthy.

It doesn’t make sense for him to have eyelashes and brows, but since the actor does, and I like drawing hair, I went with it.

I chose a delicate inking style for this, because… Well, I pride myself in the delicacy of my art, but also… I often feel like superhero comics are so heavily inked that you can’t see the drawing underneath. So I figured it was special to see a traditional DC character inked in such soft, thinly inked style. It reminds me of the Atom The Beginning manga art style (it’s okay if no one knows what I’m talking about).

I think this screenshot was a good choice to draw, because he has a delicate smile, yet half of his face is in shadow. Very ominous.

Episode 11 is interesting. They always make it so you can’t tell what Lex’s motives are. Here, they didn’t show whether he was actually possessed when he shot Clark or if he did so of his own accord. #smallville

I’m on episode 11 or so of Smallville. It feels kinda silly that Clark is hiding his superpowers when half of Smallville has been given a superpower by the kryptonite meteors. If he doesn’t want them to know he’s an alien, he can just say he got affected by the radiation from the meteors.

I listened to the song by The Calling that played right before Clark saves Lex’s life and thus Lex starts obsessing over Clark, and I realized they chose a rather sexually charged song.

With the insert songs taken from my CD collection and the shippability between Lex and Clark, Smallville feels like it was made for me! The funny thing is that I was 8 when it came out, and I wasn’t into BL or post-grunge yet. This was made for my future self!

I wanted to surprise people with this, but I’m having such a hard time with Ryland’s pose! I initially imagined him sitting cross-legged with Rocky’s ball nestled between his legs, but after realizing how big Rocky is, it just wouldn’t work out! Ideas? #PHM #GraceRocky

This month I read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and Katabasis by R.F. Kuang. The two books are very different, but one thing they have in common is being beautiful love stories! I’m learning that my favorite love stories aren’t labeled as “romance”.

Days when it feels like time doesn’t exist are great! I don’t have any responsibilities today. When I woke up, it was dark out like it was already 7pm. But with the clouds, it’ll feel like 7pm all day, so I won’t feel like time is slipping through my fingers.

The PHM movie managed to get the Hail Mary ship’s design wrong, even though the book had an illustration of it. I’m sure it was an intentional choice, but still. ^^;
