Last night Tennessee attempted to execute the first woman killed by the state in 200 years. Attempted. They gave Pike two lethal injections and after her still being alive, sent her to a medical facility this morning. I don’t trust any government with the ultimate power to end a life.

I’ve been scared to start because the one industrial machine service company in Atlanta won’t touch these machines. They have a guy come down from Kentucky twice a year to service the ones that come in through their shop. So I know I’m kind of stranded on my own device devices. BUT I CAN DO IT!!

I sure did! Drove it down from Toronto. It was just the head so I had to build a table and a transmitter for it, so it’s taken a minute to get it up and going. Plus, I know there’s gonna be many hours behind figuring out how to get it stitching properly. These are notoriously complex. Fun!

It definitely makes a prettier stitch with thinner thread at the moment. (This is some rad vintage black silk I picked up in Toronto) But I’m gonna be running some heavy yarn through her so me gotta learn how to make those adjustments.

It’s rather close. Short trip to Ace Hardware in the morrow. And a quick class on how to make stitch size adjustments. I think the main issue is coming from what’s called the “spreader” assembly and getting my tensions set better.

Gonna swap my current motor. Having a modern servo on it is nice and all, but I can’t get the one I got to stay constantly on, so 800lb clutch motor it is. I ran it twice, threaded, and broke my top thread. I’ll sort the motor and try again.

Not yet!! I had to get a long ass spring to thread the needle bar, and that came home yesterday. I also got distracted by my new chandler hand crank button sewer (which needs a new looper apparently) but I’ll sit at it this weekend since it’s finally not humid and a sweat factory in my garage now.

The Strokes were one of the best technically performed shows I’ve ever seen. Just flawless musically and vocally. My only critique is that Julian still carries his too cool for school ego, which was celebrated in the early aughts, but doesn’t appeal to people today. I think it tamped our response.
