In a world of AI generated "art," some of us are still doing it the old fashioned way

This is not the world I wanted to be coming out in. I don't know if you've noticed, but it's a pretty stressful and scary time to be transgender in the United States. That's why for Trans Day of Visibility 2025 I wanted to share some of my experience during the journey to figuring out my identity.

Imagine looking in the mirror and not recognizing the person who looks back at you. Imagine the fear and anguish it would cause. That's something I've experienced for many years. It was a long time before I realized what I was experiencing was dysphoria. That time was incredibly lonely and painful. It broke me down and sapped my will to live. I continued to exist more from inertia than anything else. And even that was exhausting."

"A lot of trans people say that transition saved their life. I don't think that it saved mine. 1 think it started my life. Until I decided to transition, I was alive, but I wasn't living Nothing felt like it really had stakes. Can you imagine a life like that?

With their continuous push to deny trans people's healthcare, delete their history, and destroy their ability to exist in public, that's what our country's leaders want to doom us to. A living purgatory. By removing us from history and censoring trans education, they curse trans children that feel the same fear and anguish I felt to suffer those feelings alone. The cruelty is the point.

That's why if you're a human being with a conscience, you should be standing up for the trans community. To my cisgender friends and family, we need your help now more than ever. We're in this fight because we have to be, and we will continue to fight, but our capacity to do so drains every day. The best thing you can do to help your trans neighbors and friends is to be loudly, unequivocally supportive of us. Stand up against the powerful forces that work against us. Let them know that you will not let them take our rights, our dignity, our lives."
