Etanga Primary: 240 students, some walking 40 km on weekends because the hostel runs out of food. We paid a full year of school and hostel fees for 7 children who have never attended. The principal counts 40 to 50 more. $100 USD keeps one child there a year: www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati...

Field notes, Friday. Four days until I fly to Namibia. This is EDF's first trip since the 501(c)(3) came through. This photo is a distribution day in Etanga: people sitting in the shade, waiting on a list the community wrote itself. #Namibia #Kunene

A goat keeps working after the day it arrives. Milk in the morning. An animal sold in a hard month so a school fee gets paid. The community names which family comes first. $75 buys one. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/walk-with-us-etanga-development-foundation #Namibia #OvaHimba

August is the deep end of the dry season in Etanga. Food is bought, not harvested. Maize meal and cooking oil, going out to the families the community named first. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati...

Three new schools inaugurated in Kunene, nine upgraded, with new classrooms. Etanga sits in this region. A school closer to home is one less reason a child stops going. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/w… #Namibia #Kunene

We buy the goats in Namibia, so the money stays local. The community decides which family gets the first animals. $75 buys a goat. A herd is savings and the next meal. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati... #Namibia #OvaHimba

In Etanga, August is the deep end of the dry season. Nothing grows now, so food is bought, not harvested. $50 puts maize meal and cooking oil in one family's home for a month. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/w… #Namibia #Kunene

An elder in Etanga holds what no archive does: the names, the seasons, how a family reads the land. The Heritage Center we are building keeps it with the community, not for it. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/w… #Namibia #Africa

In Etanga, this is the age school either continues or quietly stops. A uniform and fees decide it. EDF covers both so a child stays in class, with the community not for it. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati... #Namibia #Nonprofit

In Etanga, a cow is not charity. It is milk, income, and a family that can stand on its own. Your tax-deductible gift helps rebuild the herd. Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati... #Namibia

Namibia recommits to universal clean water and sanitation by 2063. In Kunene, water is the whole day: the herd, the household, the walk to fetch it. A promise worth keeping. #Namibia #Kunene Walk with us. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/w…

Field Notes, Friday. Three and a half weeks from now I fly to Etanga, our first trip since becoming a 501(c)(3). Here is what year one is built from, in plain terms: herds, school gates, and food that reaches a family before the dry season does. #Namibia #Kunene
