Is it time we bring back #FunFridays and share the more whimsical side of #OpenAccess publishing news? My entry this week is the OA journals card game created by librarians at @leedsbeckett.bsky.social If only they had an #OpenAccessBooks version 🤔https://eprints.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/id/eprint/12035/
Player card from the Open Access Alchemy game. Character shown is "Liesandra Ravenwood", a wizard with long hair and a raised arm, shown saying "My magic should be free for all to cast"

Nicko Goncharoff and Elliott Lumb used fun interactive approach to a complex and concerning topic - the future of research integrity. In amongst the many many AI responses from #R2RConf were a few other ideas including funding, and disinformation culture
Slide showing sample of live submitted responses to the question "what worries you most about research integrity in the next 3 years?". Responses include AI, Kennedy, lack of institutional accountability, culture of dis- and misinformation and guidelines.

A photo of a big screen while a slide titled 'Global reach and national preferences for open access books'. The slides shares the assumptions and results for the languages of titles in the OAPEN Library. A 'Conclusion' slide on a big screen telling people there are different aspects to bibliodiversity. Interesting lightning talk from @ronaldsnijder.bsky.social to kick off the break at day 2 of #R2RConf. Two case studies of bibliodiversity in OA books: print language and subject area. Definitely some food for thought on what and why some languages dominate OA publishing
Slide showing overview of OA book language of publishing prefences with French most popular in African countriesSlide showing clustered subjects and countries in open access books. Economics and education dominant in east and south African countries. Society and social sciences, military history in countries neighbouring Russia

Session 2 at #R2RConf discusses open science and open data policies. Dr Beth Montague-Hellen argues policy may not be as effective as clear specific guidance from publishers, institutions, and funders

First panel of #R2RConf explores how to engage policy makers with research. Elevator pitches and short form publications are the most digestible and accessible formats, but what does this mean for monographs?
