🌱 #UglyGarden. A bed mulched with wood and leaves chipped when trimming for power line safety. Volunteers: dill, columbine, nasturtium. Drip line under mulch b/c drought! 2 tiny watermelon starts at the far end. Also some flower starts, a weedy bed with mini roses, peonies, &a mangy maple.

I love purple asparagus. That's a tablespoon, not a teaspoon. I like the green ones too, but not raw.

🌱 Welp, a weird year for tomatoes. Here are some conjoined (Aunt Ruby’s German green) tomatoes with their normal siblings. Sungold tomatoes, which are usually a tsunami are a pretty small wave this year. The sunflowers are fun, the green beans are great. Long beans soon.

Asparagus! Even a mediocre gardener can grow some food. I always wait too long to pick them. So I cut off a little bit at the bottom and peel the lower part of the stem. Still tastes good! Almost done, but it’ll be back next year, I hope. 😁 #gardening
