They buy up merchandise with those versions of the character and from what I've seen so far, don't care about any potential new stuff unless it's with that same cast. Star Wars had this problem with the sequels. 030

There's no hook to keep them going because the story is already known. Not to mention, nearly every show declines after a first season these days, there's so many other options. 100
