Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Tim Newark is obviously as thick as his picture makes him look. I’m sure AI could write this stuff. 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Yes that’s where we seem to have got it all wrong. Forcing unions to be ‘the stick to beat evil bosses with’, a role many unions have adopted with enthusiasm. In the UK everything has to be black and white, things are either good or bad, recognising reality is always a compromise is unacceptable. 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Yes. Good point. That and using north sea oil to subsidise our standard of living. 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The use of strikes in the early 1970’s was out of control. I remember the cold dark nights. I remember being called out on strike for some minor dispute, in what was a cushy job by today’s standards. By overplaying their hand the unions created the environment for Margaret Thatcher to get elected. 100
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Typical mortgage application then required an interview. You went along wearing jacket and tie and white shirt. Got your haircut and prepared to have your character, employment and family background scrutinised. 🫣 130
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Bought my 1st house in 1978. I had a good job, but it wasn’t easy. Getting a mortgage was very hard. Prices rising very fast, put huge pressure on making a deal. Once purchased you were skint. But I WAS able to do it as a single guy without any help. Impossible today. 180
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Weirdly, some bus operators have no understanding of what passengers need. They run services for the sake of moving a vehicle around rather than with the intention of enabling people to travel. 001
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Sorry to dampen your optimism, but that sounds like a commitment that cannot be delivered. But it certainly is an excellent ambition. Level boarding is a wonderful thing. 000
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 22/09/2026It’s truly weird. Lib Dem’s are the only party with policies that are not based on some form of dogma. One can only conclude that the overwhelming majority Brits are obsessed with irrelevant prejudices. 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Yes my reaction was the same. How is one man’s prejudices news? Waiting for a call now from BBC news as I have been a UK taxpayer longer than this simple minded character. 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 19/09/2026If we really wanted to preserve the British way of life then it’s time to limit donations to £10k per year and voters only. 000

Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 15/09/2026If I lived in Paddington I would face my fears and look for opportunities to be involved in the centre. Treating it as a form of concentration camp to be isolated from ‘normal’ people is setting yourself for problems 000
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I agree. The arguments are the same. However the showstopper problem with Scottish independence is that it is impossible to reach any agreement on apportioning the national debt. This will make any separation long, bitter and acrimonious. At least we eventually reached agreement with the EU! 020
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 14/09/2026But there’s precious little gas left. Mostly oil. This is really not going to do very much for the UK economy at all. It certainly won’t benefit the man on the Clapham Omnibus 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 14/09/2026My EV cost £10k, which is pretty close to what I would have paid for a similar second hand petrol car. It is also the highest spec car I ever owned. Don’t change your car for the sake of it, but when the time comes electric will reduce your outgoings. 040
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Far more important to index link the threshold, which hasn’t changed in years. 000
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 13/09/2026When the gov’t formed there was the critical ’interview in the rose garden’ that everyone portrayed as being pivotal - an unstable government would have led to widespread loss of confidence. That’s what I am referring to. LibDems wanted to prove themselves and this clouded their judgement! 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Should have set out demands of their own rather than just go along with everything. But 1) They would have been condemned and labelled an unreliable partner 2) They were enjoying themselves too much 110
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 13/09/2026People like to forget that when the coalition government came to power there was a real risk that the banking system would collapse. If that had happened then I think coalition leaders would rightly be condemned. Having got through the first few months, the Lib Dem’s should have then… 1/2 120
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 12/09/2026The US shows the results of the wealthy bankrolling politics. This is an existential issue for UK democracy 072
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Maximum donation should also be 1% of taxes paid. It’s illogical to allow people to contribute more to partisan politics than to running the nation 070
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Isn’t it strange how having more than two children is now seen as unacceptable. My Grandmother was oldest in a family of eight children. Quite normal in those days. 010
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 11/09/2026But I have zero confidence that publicly owned rolling stock will save a penny bean. Rosco’s are the one bit of rail privatisation that actually worked. 000

Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 10/09/2026What I am trying to say is that all sections of society (however you want to divide it) must demand tolerance and compassion from their peers. The politicians that feed off division and bigotry must be removed from public life. United we can prevail!! 030
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 10/09/2026These are also the sort of guys who will also shout at cyclists to make them fall off, make lewd suggestions to any female in a skirt and harass same sex couples. None of it is the remotest bit acceptable. We need to build a better society, where respect for others is incumbent 2202

Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 08/09/20262/2 3) Extensive travel undertaken by those with money 4) The time absorbed by mobile phones 5) Growing number of people who truly believe they should be paid for anything they do for others. There are vast numbers of voluntary organisations kept going by the over 60’s. Not for much longer 000
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 08/09/20261/2 My observation is that lack of civic engagement by the under 60’s is the result of multiple pressures. These include 1) The pressures on those in work. Long hours, poor pay, demanding jobs 2) The demoralisation of those who find it difficult to get work that matches their skills 111
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I think the UK badly needs Scottish sense, while Scotland could do without sharing this island with a fascist state. 001
Ernesto @ernesto666.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Now we have the very strange case of ‘vandalism’ that severely damaged the power supply to the Great Western mainline.
