ehehe, I have wanted one of these since I was 13 years old… :3

the two cats now high resolution and not on an e paper display!

the left one has shiny whiskers, as if tinned

boards I designed for an artist ~a year ago, now installed in the garden of a tiny gallery in London c:
a brick wall with small square junction boxes with transparent lids mounted to it - there are 9 of them, led matrix panels inside showing pretty patterns and text the artist designed.

there are some pretty flowering plants in the foreground.

the “love u bby coming home” isopod meme, edited to have the isopod speech bubble show a torx screw

the replies read:

“want them?
how many?
ill get you 200 * M2 x 14 SHRK”

gold star if you can guess what the <thing> I’ve been designing today while waiting for my landlord to show up for an inspection is

finally found safety glasses I like, and they’re functional / cute enough I don’t feel the need to swap the shields onto a nicer frame just yet :3

I recieved a parcel from a friend with an incredibly important object inside* - my collection of strange nuts grows larger!! :3 *also PCB’s for a project we’ve been working on for ~2 years I guess
an “M0” nut, a hexagonal piece of metal about 4mm thick, and 12mm across the flats.. with no hole or threading in the middle at allthe M0 “nut” sitting inside a massive M56 nut, which is in turn sitting on an even more massive M64 nut

Weights for Witch Staff machined and bead blasted in my bedroom :3 I’ve been dreaming about manufacturing capability like this forever,,

this is what happens when you let mechanical engineers near ECAD software..

procrastinating building the device by spending half an hour fixing the off-center engraving on the e-stop button? possibly..
a small e-stop button with “STOP” and three concentric arrows - the font is ugly with weird kerning, and the arrows are strange too. it’s also off-center and poorly laser engravedthe same button but with a large crossed out circle neatly engraved to cover the previous engraving

am I procrastinating molding the silicone magic wand head by over-engineering the test rig control box? ..maybe, but the aesthetic vibes are very important I feel

an engineer friend of mine who designs press-molds for recycled plastic convinced me to visit their workshop yesterday :3 I got to knead the plastic like dough to make the patterns! so much fun 🧡

same :3 ..so I gave in and am building a silly little long range 18650 explorer that I've been designing
a tiny little drone which is basically just an 18650 battery holder with propellers (and an HD camera)

It has a cute little heart cutout in the front end of the holder, exposing the battery contact

it’s finally warm weather workshop outfit time again! ..I probably won’t keep the “tail”, I need it for an actual project

also my butt I guess, it looks pretty nice in the shorts.

made a shark holder for my workbench
a long magic arm mounted onto the linear rail with a swiss plate quick release - the linear rail is mounted onto an aluminium extrusion lighting frame. it’s holding a small stuffed shark.

there is a pothos plant in the background, along with two giant nuts, and two crocheted queer bees.a close up of the linear rail block, with a machined aluminium adapter plate to a swiss quick release plate.

I gave in to an urge to make a vacuum fixture plate and spent ~16 hours machining this on my comically ill-suited plastic framed cnc - it works really well! if only for my health (remembering to eat mid project), I really need a better cnc machine..
a pretty looking aluminium vacuum fixture plate in my hand

it has a rectangular black o-ring indented, and a grid pattern machined inside it with an air hole.

there is a pneumatic fitting at the top, and 4 mounting holes recessed around the edge.

it’s about the size of my palm

I love modifying second hand fabric tool rolls for my own purposes - quite often only a stitch unpicker is required! here’s version 2 of my portable soldering kit
a small fabric tool roll open showing a set of tightly packed electronics tools - in order from left to right:

- solder
- iron tip
- ts21 iron
- metal solder sucker
- small brass wool tip cleaner
- luer lock needle
- glass luer lock syringe of flux
- knipex flush cuttersthe roll now folded up, showing a silicone usb-c cable tucked into an external pouch.

in the blurry background a pretty green plant is visible.

I finally got a production Tangara! …couldn’t resist swapping in the aluminium back from my prototype unit, but it still feels special I love working on open source hardware with my friends 🧡
a tangara music player held in my hand

it’s got an ipod-1 type chunky industrial aesthetic, with a large capacitive touchwheel

the front case half is translucent polycarbonate, and the rear is silver aluminium - the buttons are gloss black aluminium.

Originally intended for this weight adjustment mechanism to be solely for testing, but honestly it might be a pretty neat feature on the final device?

the best thing I ever did for my seasonal depression was mounting a 75W office building LED light bar to a frame on my desk.. (at eye-level so there's no bright spot that triggers my migraines)
the desk (workbench) is pretty large, with an alu extrusion frame on top for lighting, as well as some plants. A laptop and ipad are mounted on a monitor arm.

Day not giving you enough light?
need 12 hours but now you only get 8?

try

100W LED COB

shining right into your eyes
no diffuser no lens

Just LED COB

high CRI too

you will certainly not regret 100W LED COB

everyone talking about dorley on here reminded me that I never posted this silly sticker design I did after reading one of the recent chapters :3
A simplistic style isometric sticker design of a progynova estradiol valerate box.

It's shows an off-white, standard tablet pack card box, with "THIS MACHINE PILLS SAPPHICS" on the side, where "progynova" would normally be.

It has the iconic 90's style pink swirl, and line elements below, but The "BAYER" logo has been changed to "GAYER"

on the left face is a barcode that decodes to ":3"

it’s definitely always this tidy c:
