I love my husband so much. Today he was out & saw a vegan hotdog, so he brought me one for dinner. (that's how I learned that apparently I’ve hidden for 8 years that I hate hotdogs. but I tried it anyway!) Turns out it was a great hotdog bc I absolutely hated it.

I do believe the AI bubble will burst, because I do genuinely believe it's all a grift. But it's also a massively harmful grift that's causing job loss, brain rot, and environmental harm. When it finally goes the route of NFTs we'll all be better off. And if I have to read the word "deepen"

(well, that and sentience/thought/ability to feel pain). but art is a big part of it. And so when I say that I hate AI, I mean it with my whole chest. F what it's doing to society, F what it's doing to people's brains, F how it's making people illiterate with no connection to art or culture.

This is general speaking--not anyone specific btw--but I find it very difficult that these AI safety folx think AI capitalism/chips/data is bad, but it's perfectly fine to use art & text from gpt/claude/copilot/et all Art is what makes us human. It's what differentiates us from nonliving things

On occasion I'll look at AI safety resources, but they're primarily made up of former AI people and tech gurus, and often have AI generated images or use AI generated texts for messaging (it's also how I found out one of my exes is very involved in that space, which was weird! Good for him though)

I don't know if there's an industry standard (if so, I haven't seen it) But I recommend putting in "unless mutually agreed in writing" as a failsafe Obviously I wish that were stronger, but if you'd never mutually agree, it would work. Just make sure it isn't consultation on, has to be agreement

publishing, I really didn't think I'd be on the chopping block. You then go through so many stages. What did I do wrong? How could I have done better? Was this personal? It wasn't. I learned later why I was laid off (I can discuss this privately). But the way it really warped my image of myself

PRH having a slew of layoffs just months after S&S did theirs is just so disheartening. It’s hard not to feel jaded. I feel so bad for all my editorial colleagues and for the fact that Dial BYFR has been completely shuttered. We need books. Children need books. And those editors deserved better.

An experience I have all too often: Because my husband is from NJ, people assume that I'm from NJ too. Or NY. Or CA. I've lived in all those places, yes, but I'm a Florida gal through and through! It's most obvious when I'm talking about Miami Subs or Cuban food. Or Flanigan's.
