Some sad news: Axios has eliminated their #dataviz team, which means I have a few former colleagues who are going to be looking for work. @daniellealberti.bsky.social was one of the best managers I’ve ever had and her eye for hiring the right people to round out a team is second to none.

Yesterday I learned that Axios was eliminating the data visualization team I’ve built and led for nearly seven years. So, for the first time in a long time, I’m looking for what's next. I’m so proud...

Coming out of my cave to share a new blog post: erdavis.com/2026/05/29/w... Still banging on about names. This time, I found the oldest name (as determined by average age of living people with that name) is... Myrtle! Included is a li'l interactive to look at your own name ☺️
A set of histograms showing the age distribution of the oldest names in the US. Myrtle is the oldest name, with an average age of 84.3 in 2025. The top five is rounded out by Nannie, Gertrude, Flossie and Beulah.

Visual journalist @erindataviz.bsky.social shows just how much a $400m Qatari jet stacks up against other gifts received by modern presidents. See the thread to see the #dataviz unfold 👇

Just wanna share that in addition to being an absolute data viz all-star, @erindataviz.bsky.social is also a goddess among embroiderers. Data viz women and textile art. Name a more iconic pairing. www.reddit.com/r/Embroidery...
Screenshot of Reddit post showing a photorealistic embroidery of a cat on a pink background. Erin says "he took 50-60 hours and more than 40 colors of floss."
