Absolutely gutted to hear of the passing of Mani. His bass playing provided the smooth pulse behind all the Stone Roses’ best songs. So glad I was finally able to catch them live at MSG in 2016. Just going to spin their brilliant music all day in his honor. Rest in peace, Mani. 🌹 🍋 🖤

Toasting to the 25th anniversary of the release of one of the best albums of my lifetime. This record is a masterpiece, and rightfully won PJ Harvey the first of her two Mercury Music Prize awards. Seeing Polly on this tour at the Fine Line remains one of my favorite shows of all-time. 📖🏙️📕🌊🍸

Watching ‘Eddie and the Cruisers’ for the first time in over a decade. This was one of my favorite movies as a teenager. One of the sure signs I’d grow up to be a music obsessive was I remember being truly angry that I couldn’t hear their unreleased album, ‘A Season In Hell.’

A few months ago, my mom asked me if there was one album I really wanted that I’ve never been able to get. I answered @Beck’s ‘Midnite Vultures.’ My dad told me that earlier today she stopped into a used record store in Waukesha to see if they had it—My heart is going to burst.❤️

I decided to watch a new (to me) music documentary each night during the week while Jenn is gone. I made the right choice for Night Two. This film is fantastic. ⭐️

I’m a bachelor for a week after my wife left for a business conference this morning, and things are getting pretty wild around mine. Just poured a martini and put in a frozen pizza, and I’m about to press play on the Lilith Fair documentary. This is bliss.

Holy shit. I just discovered the “Let Down” trend on TikTok and my heart wasn’t ready. I’m thrilled that Gen Z discovered my favorite Radiohead song. The track has even cracked the Billboard Hot 100 chart (at No. 91), becoming the band’s fourth song to do so.

I’m finally getting a chance to give an inaugural spin to this precious new addition to my #vinylcollection. I’m so psyched that Frank Ocean finally released an official pressing of my favorite record of his. Channel Orange is a masterpiece. 🟧🍸 #MartiniAndMusic #ChannelOrange

I had one blog called Words To Sell referencing an Interpol lyric (which had a quote from Apartment Story in the header). And I also had a Tumblr called And Your Bird Can Sing. Brings me back to a simpler time!

Annie’s solo set was incredible. But I remember being annoyed at all the rude folks who clearly didn’t know who she was and wouldn’t shut up while she played. Then she joined the National for a stunning version of “Green Gloves” and won over new fans who should have just listened to her opening set.

I figured mentioning BLH is like sending out the Kyle bat signal! 🤣 You’re going to Newport this year? So jealous. I’ve always wanted to make the trek out there to take in the sights and sounds.

Looks like September 9 is already shaping up to be another stacked day of live music in the Twin Cities—Japanese Breakfast at the Palace, Bonny Light Horseman at Fine Line, and Wet Leg at First Ave. I’ll be seeing the Isle of Wight rockers that evening, but good choices all around.

Spinning this brilliant 3LP set in honor of #RickBuckler, who provided the driving backbeat to these perfect songs. Over the course of their 5-year run between 1977-1982, #TheJam released 18 consecutive Top 40 singles, including four No. 1 hits. RIP, Rick. Your churning rhythms will live on forever.
