Haha, thank you. You’re the first person to comment on it.

The campaign is doing great, but we need just a little more help! Who’s groovy enough to be our 20th backer? www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/... #horror #indiegogo #comedy #slasher #halloween

Has anyone uploaded a film to MeVue? How was your experience with them? And they use Stripe to process payments. Is that legitimate? I got a little weirded out when they asked for my SSN. #advice #help #filmmaker

My fellow creatives, what makes a villain totally unsympathetic?

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 12/02/2025

We had one bit of advice in film school that I now find ironic "Don't cast your friends, use actors!" Now, ironically, most of my friends are actors. Great ones. So I don't know what to do!

As I prepare the storyboards, look at the script, creature designs, vehicle concepts and ideas for fight choreography. I wonder what I’ve got myself into! It doesn’t matter if it is a lot of work. No one ever said filmmaking was easy, but the process is a blast and the results will last forever!

You were a blast! And probably why I've got a character (or a dozen) for you in mind for various upcoming films.

Some screen captures from my latest film, Don. I've been testing out some color grades. And yes, that last photo is me without a beard. See? I have acting range! #actor #filmmaker #director #indiefilm #editor #film #postproduction

Been designing creatures for the movie as I write it. I’m not going to lie, it is my wish that this gets a kickass action figure line someday.

Just had one of my wildest, craziest script ideas that manages to combine action, sci-fi and horror! Now to start outlining this baby!

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

So what makes a character relatable to you? Shared experiences, similar outlooks, or a wish fulfillment aspect?

A throwback shot to my friend Lindsay Arends first film. I was beyond honored that she picked me to co-star in her directorial and writing debut. I also learned so much from watching David Comeaux work behind the camera. Hope to act a lot more in 2025! #acting #onlocation #film #star

At the risk of sounding worse… I still haven’t seen it yet!

Thank you! Hope to get more roles like this.

Just a friendly reminder that, as an actor, it is important to have goals and dream roles. I knew I’d consider myself a professional once I was covered in stage blood and laughing manically. #dreams #goals #youcandoit #inspiration

I’m taking a look at revamping some public domain heroes, but deciding on which one is a unique challenge.

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 21/01/2025

Oh yeah! I saw that one. As per usual you were great.

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 20/01/2025

So, how do we feel about an indie superhero movie? Is the genre played out, or would you be willing to watch a good one!

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 19/01/2025

I guess that I'm an optimist thinking that enough of us will survive to build a Fallout-esque wasteland.

Going through my story folder and realizing that I have a lot of post-apocalyptic stories/scripts… wonder what a psychologist would make out of that.

So far pretty good! A couple of dated jokes here and there, but it was set in the 90s/2000s. Sure the CGI is rough, but it was the best they could do at the time. The acting is still the best part.

Nice! I’ve been rewatching Buffy, so this is excellently timed.

Would love to audition (if applicable). Your last film turned out great!

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 15/01/2025

As far as horror goes, I have three ideas I am excited about writing. 1. Ghost. 2. Bigfoot. 3. Slasher. Understand that one day I'll make all of these, but I'm debating which one to write first.

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 15/01/2025

Sensei Bob vs Sauron. Just kidding, you've got all kinds of potential that I can't wait to make use of!

110

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 14/01/2025

I was thinking LOTR type stuff, but adding sci-fi into the mix sounds like a lot of fun to me!

110

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 14/01/2025

I like the way you think! Would you consider Terminator sci-fi horror? He does kind of act like a slasher.

110

Erik Franklin @erikfranklin.bsky.social · 14/01/2025

Will do! And I have a few great ideas that I am going to start fleshing out.

As I wrap up post production on two features, I am debating what my next film should be. Action? Horror? Fantasy? What would you all be interested in working on?

Working on my latest film, DON, based on the novel DON QUIXOTE. So proud of how the cast came together, and I can't wait for them to see the film.
