Thank you for your support, Jaye! I hope I get to work with the kids; I love kids and truly believe that what I’d bring to the table would enhance their educational experience. It’s all about the kids!

I also discussed a few prospective projects I’m exploring as possibilities around merging music and sped and how I’d parlay that work to pursue my National Board Teaching Certification (NBTC). As I flesh out my likely proposals, I’ll share them here. I hope I’m hired and given the opportunity. 🎼🥰

I love this! I briefly taught at such an institution last spring, though nonprofit. The violence directed at me was horrendous, and I was out in three weeks. Aside from that nightmare, the interview went incredibly well. I should hear by week’s end. They love how I intend to merge music and sped.

Wow! I didn’t know that! I’m hoping to combine my love for sped and music and to thereby, when and where permitted, infuse music into the special education classroom as an alternative SEL support mechanism. That would be my project by which to pursue my National Board Teacher Certification, too.

Nice work! I lift in the winter; otherwise, I paddle, bike, run, swim, and hike. Mix up your strength and endurance training routines for more fun and engagement. Whenever you can exercise outside and connect with nature, the mental health benefits you derive are just as valuable. Holistic exercise!

I don’t know how old you are, but when I hit 40 (I’m 47 now) and ate late at night, unless it was fruit or veggies, I got indigestion and bloating, didn’t sleep well, and woke up with a stomach ache. Maybe it’s old age? 😆 I’m guessing you can pull off a late-night snack much better than I can! 😆

I’ve been following this case. Sadly, it portrays that our society continues its assault on women, normalizing and even glorifying, sexual assault on women; furthermore, with the Epstein files suppression going on for years now, these gross men have nothing to fear with modern conservatives here.

I blame AI—there’s no regulation in k12 ed today. Either a blind eye is turned upon it or it’s encouraged; also, many schools are legally permitted to adopt a largely no-retention policy, about which I learned when I student-taught last year. I had to push kids through who shouldn’t have passed.

My 12 yo son is on his fifth school district in seven years, due to relocations, not behavioral issues, thankfully. The common observation I’ve made is that many students are using improper grammar in their written and verbal communication. Some are reading at a fifth-grade level at best, too.

I concur, and they’re probably helping to suppress the Epstein files, too.

This approach makes for intentional media consumption. I was under fire for putting an iPad in my eldest son’s hands when he and I were doing early learning activities together. At least back then, a dozen years ago, YouTube Kids had quality content that aligned with my early learning curriculum.

UMass is an hour away from me. When my sister was there for a semester before transferring to a small liberal arts college to finish her BA, she had lecture halls with as many as 500 students for an intro to history course. My high school auditorium couldn’t seat that many for our biggest concerts!

I’m thinking of your child. My son had an orthodontic issue over the summer that was originally thought to be a potential brain tumor. It was so scary. He still needs minor oral surgery. He already has braces on his top teeth and is headed in for bottom braces next month. Sending love to you all. ❤️

Yes, we made it to Friday and will make it through smoothly, because that is the thought we are putting out to the universe. That lake in the background of your image immediately puts me in paddling mode! Here are some photos from just after sunrise yesterday at Stockbridge Bowl. TGIF, Jaye!

I opened up and told her that if my strong zeal is overbearing, let me know. I said that I’d always respond with calm and respect and meet her where she is. Part of the giving process is meeting the recipient where they are, such as when donating time and expertise.

Even what I’ve already given to my son’s school music program, it fills my heart. I’ve been sharing many ideas with our music director and offering to collaborate with her to meet her needs. I’m very enthusiastic, however, and I’m beginning to see that I could be unintentionally upping her anxiety.

Exactly, Jaye! Even when it comes to gift-giving to my boys, ages eight and 12 (how apropos with the holidays coming up shortly), I’d rather give them an experience. I still give them something tangible under the tree, but an experience at an event forges a lifetime memory and bonding experience.

Jan, critical thinking skills should be infused in every class, whether core or elective. I was and still am a band geek. I’m just a band parent geek now! 😂 Even in the arts and athletics, critical thinking, communication, and team-building skills can and must be meaningfully taught and developed.

For instance, I matched with a woman on a dating app last week, and we met up at a local chocolatier’s chocolate bar. We both didn’t feel anything. She mentioned she had a grad degree, worked as a para, and wanted to find a pathway to education licensure in MA. I spent almost 90 minutes helping her.

The best gift that I can receive is to give to another. I’ve always embodied magnanimity. Whether that practice was inculcated in me or developed organically, I feel blessed to have it. And, giving doesn’t necessarily mean to gift something tangible. I lend a lot of support to others in need…

This is the kind of cohesiveness that I will strive to foster in our booster club. The stronger the relationships we have with one another in the booster group and with the music education staff, the stronger we can all be collectively. Hopefully, we all forge meaningful friendships along the way.

If I couldn’t adopt an AI-generated ELA lesson plan last year when I student-taught third grade, because it was so off-base, why would I consider AI for cooking? I should consider all things AI as having been much-refined over the past year? 🤦‍♂️

Dr. K.: I’m a parent of two boys, so I’ve never been in this situation; however, had I been a girl dad, I would’ve done what you had done. I may not have thought of the call-out, which I find to be a very courteous and ingenious social maneuver. Job well done, and the article was very well written!

Everything happens for a reason. When one door shuts, another one swings wide open for you. That’s been my experience, and attitude can reinforce that belief.

Letting her convince me to walk out was both the best and worst thing I could’ve done. I let my kids and peers down but left a toxic environment. I was told by my friends to stay the course for the kids, but I stubbornly said no. When I left and retooled to better adapt to teaching, the magic came.

I let her get to me and walked out on my kids because she left me so dejected. I resurfaced a few months later, refined, stronger, and more confident than ever. The message that I put out to the universes brought opportunities my way. I’m now a finalist for a middle school sped position. Attitude!

The key to success amid turbulence is resilience and perseverance. Life is full of vagaries and vicissitudes. When I transitioned to education a year ago, my first principal told me that I was not fit it for it and to go back to the corporate world where I had spent the previous 25 years…

Good morning, Jaye. I’m currently “being there” for a close friend who’s undergoing some mild to moderate medical complications. I’m happy to give my energy and time to help. This morning, I’m reaching out to a friend who is a healthcare practitioner to help her. It’s dental-related.

I’ve been on and off dating apps, as a middle aged, single parent in rural W. MA; social opportunities are few and far between here. Well, I just joined another one (for however long I can stand it), and there’s a prominently displayed option to select AI to draft your profile narrative! Come on. 🤦‍♂️

I’m very proud of you, Dr. K.! I’ve been on the same journey myself. It’s a lot of sacrifice. On any given day until the winter season (Western MA here), I’m either paddling, running, biking, hiking, walking, or doing yard work. If it’s a longer day for me, I find little ways to get my steps in.

It’s great to see you back here, Jaye! This was my son’s first parade in which he played clarinet. My younger son held the high school band banner with two sweet girls. I was the roadie and hauled brass & percussion equipment in my car for the kids. We all had so much fun! The kids are wonderful! 🎼❤️

Exactly, Colin. I’m a finalist for a middle school teaching position and have one last interview this Tuesday for it. I reached out to a teacher friend of mine a day ago to get some of her insights. Describing a significant challenge is something she said would probably be asked of me. I’m prepared.
