Or you could make great art. George Lucas, Stephen Speilberg, Bruce Springsteen.... Michael Jordan would probably like a word too

Neither was worthy of a Best Picture Oscar, imo. But of the two, OBAA was a far superior option. Sinners may be the most overrated film of the past decade. It was good and I enjoyed it but it was a stylized vampire flick. Really, nothing more. .

None of that has anything to do with his work. Which is the best of his generation. By far. Which was the subject of the original post. If we start unfollowing the work of artists who's personal lives we find questionable, logically there won't be much art left to enjoy.

Yeah, CK really. Like him or not he's produced the most high level stand up content over the past 20 years. And it's not particularly close imo. Still putting out fresh hours every two years. If not for his bizarre and gross behavior it wouldn't be a debate at all.

Louis CK, Chris Rock, Bill Burr, John Mulaney, Taylor Tomlinson... are all as good as those two "gods" It's true the market it oversaturated but the the top guys doing it now are as good as anyone that ever came before.

Yeah, it was very dumb and years later. He started talking about in interviews and Ray sued him for it. Whole things is a ridiculous story

Who you gonna call? Lawyers! Ray got sued by Huey Lewis and lost for stealing the entire song from "I want a New Drug". Then Huey broke the NDA agreed to as part of the settlement and got sued by Ray and lost. Money just went back and forth.

If you don't have pet insurance, you should consider it. The decision of how you treat your pet should never be a financial one. That's Penny in the picture BTW. She's a 13 1/2 year old sweet as can be, albeit a little stubborn Golden Doodle. We love her & her sister Kasha dearly. #DogsofBluesky

Why does it have to be a "push" towards trade school. That should be the encouraged route for 50% of kids headed to four year schools every fall. 90% of plumbers and electricians are doing financially better at 25 than liberal arts majors are at 40 these days

Anyone contributing to this is essentially killing Audio Description. At least, quality audio description. If you think this will be used as anything more than a cost cutting tool you're out of your mind. And cost reduction never leads to an increase in quality. The blind community deserves better.

This will be the final nail in the coffin for AD. Nothing about this is aimed at making it better and everything about this will only serve to make it worse for everyone that has dedicated their careers to the art form.

4) Creating poor sounding Audio Description isn't much cheaper than the great track. In fact the "savings" are shockingly low. So why does it happen? Because networks and production companies simply don't care. That's it! No other reason. Don't accept any other excuse

060

Eric Wickstrom @ericwickstrom.bsky.social · 15/11/2024

3) Anyone that claims the reason they aren't providing a quality track (or providing one at all) is because of the cost is lying. The average production spends more on the snacks for their crew. A lot more. If they claim they didn't have time, they're lying.

150

Eric Wickstrom @ericwickstrom.bsky.social · 15/11/2024

2) The cost of producing a track of that quality is absurdly low in comparison to the budget of the show you're describing. I'd guess on average less than half of one percent. On big budget shows it's far, far less.

Eric Wickstrom @ericwickstrom.bsky.social · 15/11/2024

Here's some FACTS about Audio Description. 1) It's takes 24 hours or less to turn around a track for an hour long episode of television. A track of the absolute highest quality written by a great writer, voiced by a live professional and mixed by a real person.
