In August, the head of UNHCR shared a photo on social media of him sitting down with the former director of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, whose food distribution hubs were the sites of daily killings between May and September 2025. Why were the two men meeting? bit.ly/4hx98sT

Why did the UNHCR chief meet with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s ex-leader?
Critics say sitting down with Johnnie Moore normalised an organisation accused of complicity in high-profile atrocity crimes.

Johnnie Moore could be liable for atrocity crimes in Gaza and aiding Israeli genocide for his role leading the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. He is also a conduit to US President Donald Trump on humanitarian issues. Should UN leaders be meeting with him? www.thenewhumanitarian.org/analysis/202...

Moria refugee camp made it to all the newspapers when, in the summer of 2020, it was burned to the ground. What happened to the hotspot of Lesvos after it disappeared from the spotlight? This article reveals that violence, pushbacks and isolation still affect people on the move today.

Israel has closed Gaza’s border crossings (again) as the Iran war escalates (also again). The war has been disastrous, in so many ways. It has been specifically disastrous for Palestinians in Gaza, as Israel continues to immiserate the population and gobble up territory with the world distracted.
