From local heroes to Starbucks clones: Blue Bottle is in the music business now I guess. Everyone knows this is about reducing royalty fees for in-store music, right? 🙄🙄🙄 #VinylStupidity @vinylstupidity.bsky.social #bluebottle bluebottlecoffee.com/us/eng/month...

Hi #vinylcommunity. I'm going to be in San Juan for one day this week. If I can do it, the best I can hope to manage is a visit to one record store. Any suggestions? Any suggestions of artist's material to look out for that isn't readily available in the continental states?

I know this movie is considered a disaster and yes the new Dune movies are objectively far superior… yet, I still have so much love for this. The orchestral theme gets me every time! #dune #toto #vinylcommunity @vinyl.bsky.social #soundtracks

One of my NYRs is to get back to doing more mixes. So…. I recorded another last night. A little all over the place, trying to play anything I got in the last year that I didn’t play yet. #vinylcommunity #mixcloud #vinylmix #recordparty www.mixcloud.com/esfreeman/an...

Antique store find! 1970 US version in great shape. Wasn’t exactly cheap but feeling quite chuffed I didn’t get fleeced. It’s ages since I heard this straight through. I forgot how brilliant the journey is. Vive Le Album!! #vinylcommunity #blacksabbath @vinyl.bsky.social

Uuuugh kids, man. Neighbor kid thought it would be fun to spin the platter as fast as possible and then grind the needle into the rubber mat. Hahaha what a funny joke! 😡😡😡. Cantilever is bent and I’m sure the needle is ruined but frankly the way he was going at it I’m surprised it’s there at all!

The greatest draw of evangelicalism is the permission structure to be a total asshole in public. “What’s your problem, bro? I’m doing it for JEsus!” 🙄. Sure, dude. Sure.

Poor Susan Wells. Sometime in the mid-70s, her baby disappeared. On Christmas, no less. And she died never knowing what happened to him. #elf

This record takes me back to one of the best live shows ever. #Matmos worked on some of the most iconic tracks and toured with Bjök to promote the album. They played on the wharf in SF and we got to see how they made some of the iconic sounds. What a night.

This is the Japanese “press” which as far as I can tell is just the EU pressing with an added Japanese translation insert. If I saw this at a shop in the US it would be at least double the price (and thus out of my league). I definitely took advantage, already regret a few that I left in the bin.

One of the best things about record shopping in Tokyo is the totally normal, reasonable prices. I mean truly rare stuff will still break the bank. But an OG copy of one of my bucket list record’s, Björk’s Vespertine, could be had for ~$35. @vinyl.bsky.social #vinylcommunity #bjork #diskunion #tokyo

James Dean Driving Experience produced one of my all time favorite 12” singles. I’ve always been on the hunt for their other 3 singles. I honestly never thought I would find any… until I stumbled upon this at Disk Union in Tokyo! Great slice of c86 pop ☺️. @vinyl.bsky.social #vinylcommunity #c86

This was the other “cover looks cool” record i picked up at the Disk Union - Japanese shop. Sheena & the Rokkets. 70s punky/new wave vibes with some Devo thrown in. Def would fit right in at Mosswood Meltdown. Very fun record! #vinylcommunity @vinyl.bsky.social #sheenaandtherokkets

Here’s a pic of the Disk Union -Japanese Music shop. I know next to nothing about City Pop so I couldn’t justify some of the prices. Listening to this record I feel like I definitely got value for $$ (a constant theme in Japan BTdubs) @vinyl.bsky.social #vinylcommunity #citypop

Got so many cool records in Tokyo. Gonna go through then one by one starting with 岡田有希子 – 贈りもの. I was so overwhelmed in the DU-Japan shop that I just grabbed records that looked cool priced under ¥1,000. This one sounds like a nice slice of 80s City Pop. Bubbly and fun with a disco beat. Nice start!
