The trailer for ‘The Shining’ shown on TV to advertise the film‘s cinema run. The fact that I had a plastic trike and haircut like Danny’s made it seem a bit too real.

The picture seems to fit with those outrageous prices. They're obviously quite comfortable shafting their fans.

It’s hilarious that Brian Baker coined the term ‘emocore’ that he used as a lighthearted throwaway burn. Crediting Rites of Spring and Embrace (brilliant evolution of punk rock) with the MOR stuff that later became known as ‘emo‘ is just embarrassing. It’s a bit like the derivative ‘grunge-lite’.

Got around to watching this last night. Guy and Ian made and continue to make the point that ‘emo‘ is nonsensical. They‘re of the view that they were making punk rock, just not the kind that attracted a knucklehead crowd. Couldn’t agree more.

Moronic. Divisive politics at its most pathetic. Unless they’ve proposed it first, there’s a spiteful determination to take a position that always opposes the Government line. They think this lack of collegiality makes them look tough but in reality they look weak, immature and out of touch.

If you dare criticise this arrangement you’re called a ‘communist’. As if you aspire to some kind of centralised Soviet-era authoritarianism. Fuck that, time to dismantle those vested interests.

Thanks @dirty-old-goon.bsky.social the period 90-92 was formative. Always kick myself for the ones missed but equally important (Rollins Band, Subhumans, Joy Division, The Charlatans, etc.).
