My plan to save journalism is the top comment on Pablo's SubwayTakes video.
A screenshot of a SubwayTakes video featuring Pablo Torre, who said "Fake plants are stolen valor." I responded by saying "If I was Pablo, my take would have been "If a journalist's investigation leads to someone being fined $30 million, the journalist should get to keep that money." He replied "Shit. That’s a better take"

I recently remembered there was a Ripley's Believe It or Not! TV show in the early 2000's. It was hosted by Dean Cain, because of course. Turns out it's on Tubi. Haven't started watching yet but the episode blurbs are amazing. Just an amazing combination of words never seen before or since.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes is accusing Gov. Dan McKee of misleading Rhode Islanders about his attendance at a Los Angeles Clippers game after newly surfaced footage appeared to show him seated in one of the arena’s most exclusive sections.

The footage, first published by the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast and obtained by Target 12, shows the governor seated about four rows from the baseline during the Clippers’ home opener against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 24, 2025, at the Intuit Dome.

McKee’s attendance at the game has come under scrutiny since Target 12 and Torre revealed last month that Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard was a private investor in Rhode Island FC, the second-tier professional soccer club. McKee cast the tie-breaking vote in 2022 to provide taxpayer subsidies for the team’s stadium in Pawtucket.

Ah, the old 5:03pm on a Friday press release.
Screenshot of press release: U.S. Department of Justice Closes Investigation into Worcester Police Department

WORCESTER, Mass. – The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) informed the City of Worcester Thursday that it has chosen to close its investigation into the Worcester Police Department without further action and without sustaining any allegations from its 2024 report.

When the DOJ released its original report, the municipality was already taking steps to improve its practices to promote fair, safe, and unbiased policing in the community. That work continued after the report was announced and will continue into the future, as ongoing improvement is necessary to have an effective police force.

“I want to thank the DOJ for recognizing the positive steps the WPD has taken to strengthen its policies and practices and for their thorough attention to this matter,” City Manager Eric D. Batista said. “I also want to thank Chief Saucier and the entire department for working cooperatively with the DOJ and for their work every day that helps make Worcester one of the safest mid-sized cities in the country. While the DOJ investigation may be closed, we remain committed to proactive evaluation and improvement.”

The Massachusetts Senate's Ways and Means Committee has advanced a bill that would reform the state's Cannabis Control Commission, putting it on a potential track to be passed before the Nov. 19 recess. Here's the Senate's summary of it (courtesy of SHNS)
An Act modernizing the Commonwealth’s cannabis laws improves the state’s oversight of the maturing cannabis industry
by reorganizing the Cannabis Control Commission, updating limits on licenses held by retailers, and modestly increasing
the amount of cannabis that adults can possess for recreational use. The details of the legislation are below.
Reorganizing the Cannabis Control Commission
Streamlines the CCC. Restructures the commission to lead the way on regulating the seven-year-old cannabis industry with
a board of three members. Solidifies the commission’s public accountability with two members appointed by the Governor,
including the chair, and one member appointed by the Attorney General. The chair’s term would align with the Governor’s
term in office, while the other two commission members would serve four-year terms at the pleasure of their appointing
authorities. Authorizes the chair to directly appoint the CCC’s executive director, who would be able to exercise independent
authority over the agency’s enforcement and operational units.
Updating Limits on Retail Licenses
Increases Possible Cannabis Licenses. Allows licensed cannabis retailers to expand their businesses in the Massachusetts
market by holding up to four licenses each, instead of the current maximum of three.
Increases Equity Threshold. Encourages additional investment in cannabis businesses by raising the threshold—from 10
to 12 per cent—for holders of equity in a cannabis business to be considered owners for the purpose of counting toward the
limit on licenses they can hold.
Encourages Fiscal Solvency for Retailers. Creates penalties for cannabis license-holders who are categorized as
‘delinquent’—remaining in debt to another licensee for more than 60 days—by prohibiting other licensees from delivering
products to them while prohibiting the delinquent company from changing ownership or control of its license until the debts
are paid.
Modernizing Adult Recreational Possession, and More
