As I'm up after midnight, I did tomorrow's Wordle already. The solution is my wife's starting word. I'm really excited to watch her get it in one tomorrow.

My Christmas/birthday game haul. I also got the Jaws LEGO set, which I'm auper excited to do.

Since I was so harsh on the first scenario, I feel compelled to note that I played the second scenario from this box, Hollywood Confidential, and thought it was great. It definitely redeemed this set. Now I'm hoping the third set is also solid.

This is a great way to get a ton of John Scalzi's library in one shot, for under $20, while supporting a charity. Win-win-win.

I watched the first two episodes of DC's newest animated show, Creature Commandos, and it was quite a ride. The animation is gorgeous, the writing is engaging (and not at all child friendly — they show necrophilia, for fuck's sake), and the soundtrack is by Gogol Bordello. Highly recommend.

I just played Restart from Unlock Extraordinary Adventures with my daughter, and it was the worst Unlock we've played in years. It was so unintuitive, and it was listed as 1/3 difficulty. If the box didn't already have two more scenarios in it, I might never play an Unlock again after that one.

The Unlock: Extraordinary Adventures box.

There has been exactly one game I have been asking Restoration to do literally since the inception of the company — and that game is Battle Masters. The fact that not only are they now doing it, but in the Godzilla/Kong Monsterverse, is mind-blowing.

If I were smarter, I'd have bought a chocolate Advent calendar so I could give myself a treat each day when I solve the riddle.

my #BGStats for November. As the temperature starts to drop, my number of plays starts to rise. Highlights include the Curse of the Dark escape room game, Five Tribes on BGA, and learning Creature Caravan and Let's Go! to Japan.

"The Tainted Cup" by Robert Jackson Bennett was one of my favorite reads of the year. If anyone else here is interested in unique fantasy worlds with a pair of protagonists that give off serious Holmes and Watson vibes, I highly recommend it, especially for $2.99. www.amazon.com/Tainted-Cup-...

I've had this for a really long while, and haven't yet played it. It's because I played the original Exit the Abandoned Cabin with my dad, and he's since passed. But it's been years now, and it's a rainy Saturday and I've nothing else to do, so I think it's time.

Our rescue dog Duncan had a routine x-ray done yesterday ahead of being neutered, and it showed that he has a bullet lodged in his back. I can't imagine how this dog, who has the sweetest disposition, could have been shot, but here we are.

Tickets ordered for next Spring's Granite Game Summit (@g2summit.bsky.social). I'm doubly excited because not only will I get to see Patrick Hillier (@overthehillier.bsky.social) and all the other wonderful regulars there, two of my best friends from home are coming up with me this year.

Okay, in an effort to be more present here, here's a bit about me: I was involved in board game media for years (The WDYPTW podcast, The Cubist, The Cardboard Hoard, Patrick and Eric in the Morning, Punchboard Media), but have retired from all that.

Eric Buscemi @ericbuscemi.bsky.social · 12/11/2024

I think the reason I haven't been using BlueSky much is because I don't have the network here that I did at the Bad Place™, and the reason I don't have a growing network here is because I'm not using it much. So if you're in the board gaming sphere and know me, maybe add me? I'll try to engage more.

My plays for February. Finished TTR: Legacy, and loved it. Got Trickerion to the table for the first time since 2016. Learned Altered, Splendor Duel, Tidal Blades, Savernake Forest, and MLEM. Did some solo one shots — Clue: Treachery at Tudor Manor, Body on the Boardwalk, and The Easter Escapade.

PAX Unplugged was a brief, chaotic and fun adventure this year. I brought my 11-year-old son with me at his request, so I didn't get to play as much or see as many people as I'd have liked. If I didn't see you, sorry I missed you! As for games — what was the hotness this year? I honestly don't know.

This has been the game I've most wanted to come to BGA since, well, forever. But I'll settle for this online app. I just hope it is playable on my phone screen, a lot of BGA games I need to be at my PC to play.

Hey @thebuckeyegamer.bsky.social, I see from BGG that you've played Disney's Haunted Mansion. You think it's worth adding to my collection for $11 to play with the family? I'm leaning yes unless you tell me it was not good.

My Sept. board gaming. Quick thoughts — Crokinole, which I played in a tournament at Reunity Games, is an outstanding dexterity game. Point City is very good, although the rulebook is rough. Eleven is a very maximalist, but fun, soccer simulation. Cobras is as solid a trick-taker as any I've played.
