Found my second juvenile racer at my favorite state park earlier this week. They have such a beautiful pattern when they’re young, it’s almost a shame that they change to a solid black or blue-grey as adults. 🙃 #Nature #Snakes 🐍

Mel & I saw a lot of deer while we were in southern Ohio, but this was the largest group of them that we encountered. It was also the closest we got to a deer, as the one on the road remained close by as we drove up. (1/2) #Nature #Deer 🦌

Someone lost this enamel pin on a trail at Shawnee State Park. 🙁 Magee Marsh is on the opposite end of Ohio from Shawnee State Park, & it’s known as the Warbler Capital of the World (during spring migration it’s a birding paradise). The bird depicted on this pin is a blue-winged warbler. #Birds 🪶

Today’s hike at Shawnee State Park turned up a blinded sphinx moth caterpillar, a nice variety of wild mushrooms, & a baby bullfrog. On the drive down, we saw several deer & a bald eagle. Tomorrow, we get the kayaks out on the water! #Nature #Frogs 🐸
