Part of me feels like I should wait till Dax, my son is 7 as well before I introduce this world to him. Anywho, just wanted to share this with anyone out there who might be having similar struggles of when to introduce this series to their child...

To prevent even trying I keep the books downstairs in my office but when I bring up the first book will be when the decision has been made for me. He'll see that massive book and instantly want to know what it is and want to start reading it with me. I'm also aware that in the books Harry was 7.

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Unlike my experience with the series, the one I plan on reading with him is the HUGE coffee table sized books that are the special illustrated editions. I also have the MinaLima books but I don't think we can handle that level of intricacy with each page. Every day I wake up I think, "should I?"

My son is 5 years old and in many ways he's very smart. He can already read, though I'd say his comprehension for what he's reading is still very much tied to the pictures in the book. I want to read him the Harry Potter series and it's taking everything in me to wait another two years.

It warms my heart and my soul to see crazy Jameis Winston is IN THE HOUSE! LET'S GO, GIANTS!!!

I binged Marble Hall Murders. My kind of mystery series. The kind that makes me want to write. The kind that gets my mind reeling and finds me searching my local B&N to buy the book and read it quickly.

Another game I'm tempted to get because I've only been waiting for EVER for it to come to a Nintendo system is Call of Duty. But right now I'm still on the fence about it. Maybe if it goes on sale later this year I might consider it...

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

I have pre-ordered Metroid Ravenous and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. And I will pre-order Pokemon Winds when that becomes available. Since I have limited time on my hands and my taste in video games is very specific, that makes my money go a bit further.

I think we'd all love tech companies a helluva lot more if they'd put their endless resources towards solving the printer! And if they can't make connecting to and printing from a printer easy, then what the hell are they doing? Seriously. What the hell are they even doing?! RANT OVER! 🎤

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

We're over here fighting about how to regulate AI and yet we have not solved the great printer problem. Which, I feel confident in saying, has been a problem SINCE PRINTER'S WERE INVENTED!

100

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

I was QUICKLY reminded of the anguish and heartache setting this damn thing up to the internet is! After 30min of messing with it I was left feeling hopeless, alone, and extremely hungry (insert light-headed and dizzy). Why oh why is it not a plug and play for printers?

100

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Have I mentioned how much I HATE printers? I've had the same Canon MG series for...quite some time...and in that time (or at least since I've lived in this house) it's worked fine. But I recently unplugged it, changed internet carriers, and after like a month (?!) plugged it back in.

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Which is all the more reason why I want Pokopia Part II to come out NOW and not in November which is what I feel might happen. How about October? That seems like a good month for it. Gives me time to try and finally finish the Dex which I'm so close to doing!

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

As someone who never played The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, I am very excited to play this version as my first ever play through and if I remember (or don't get so into it I just play in handheld mode like I'm apt to do) I will stream it!

The kind of improvements that make me consider getting the Duo 2 or 3. I just hope this doesn't go the way of the Vision Pro where they made it but they clearly are letting it die a a slow and painful death. I want an iPhone foldable. Just not right now...

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

I'm kinda trained on the "New Every 2" model that AT&T had back in the day with cell phones so even though that's not necessarily a thing anymore where they push leasing and getting a new phone every year, If i get the iPhone 18 then that gives the iPhone Duo two years to do improvements.

100

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

I'm treating the iPhone Duo in much the same way I treated the iPad when it first came out: I waited till the iPad 2 before I considered buying it. I'm tempted to get the iPhone 18 Pro Max to upgrade from my iPhone 16 Pro Max and then I'll see if the price or the design changes in a meaningful way.

Every year on 9/11 since 2002, if it was a week day, I was absent or took the day off. Tomorrow will be the first time in 24 years that I will be working on 9/11. I'll never forget. But tomorrow will be quite surreal for me. A son in Kindergarten vs my last year of High School...

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

This is not my thing and you'll see why but I decided to create my own "Nintendo Direct Bingo Card" at the absolute last minute. It was definitely a fun thing to do if only to come up with what I want to see, what I know will never be there, and what I know will be but I couldn't care less about.

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Pre-order is DONE! There was never any doubt, honestly. My first ever playthrough of this game will be on the NS2 because while I owned an N64 I didn't really get many games for it.

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

I am SUPER excited for this. More excited than the HBO Max series actually. Especially because my son is just a few years away from reading the series with me for the first time. I wish I had the Jim Kay illustrated books with my first read through. But getting to read them with him, I'm excited!

Went down a deep rabbit hole of looking at elaborate #Pokopia builds on Pinterest. Let’s do this! I’m also looking at constructing 5x5 habitats for most, if not all, of my Pokémon and houses will be mostly empty.

I just remembered I had the Gen X sprites! Duh!

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Very basic, but I'm proud none the less. Here is the tracker I built for myself to use in order to track my Pokopia gameplay. But the part I'm MOST proud of is that I can also track the mainline Gen games, including this WICKED COOL area for me to select my starter for each Gen! 😳

Took a while getting used to Tom Brady as an analyst on Fox. But he's earned his stripes with me. And his 199 newsletter slaps every week. And heck, if nothing else, I gotta thank the man for giving my team TWO Superbowl wins. The best one off the back of their "almost perfect" undefeated year!

100

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

As a born and raised New Yorka and a lifelong NY Giants fan, it is ingrained in me to NOT now, not EVER, be a Patriots fan anything. And that often will extend to their players (past, present, and future). But and however, I have to admit I'm a TB fan.

100

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

The way I see it, this should all take me into Gen X of Pokemon Winds & Waves or at least till the 3rd Wave of Pokopia DLC that I hope won't come out till at least late Spring, early Summer of next year. A girl needs time to get her act together on this game, ya feel me?! There just so much to do!!!

000

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

Step four will be building buildings that are already there. Then step five is organizing storage and community boxes across all of the areas for easier crafting. Step six is building buildings and the final step seven is putting some Pokemon in more permanent (indoor?) homes.

110

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

So, step one is organizing which Pokemon should go to which area. Step two is figuring out which ones I have vs which ones I'm missing. Then step three is creating Habitats accordingly in each area which will hopefully make me want to visit places that I don't normally visit when I'm playing.

100

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

I think I'm missing about 85 Pokemon. I'm also trying to rebuild certain buildings and areas the way they were originally. I'm not the best decorator. That's just not my thing. But being able to see what was there and put that back and clear the debris? I'm your gal!

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

Am I crazy for taking all 357 Pokopia Pokemon, counting how many are in each Speciality class and then dividing that into each area as evenly as possible? After being able to easily get all 50 Bubbly Basin Pokemon, I feel it's necessary to get all 357.

If my son has taught me anything, it’s that there’s much more to a logo or trademark than meets the eye. Whenever he writes Nickelodeon or Red Robin or any other such logo he makes sure to include the TM or R with a circle around it. These little details are crucial to getting it right.

Every time I see a new Nintendo Today theme I get annoyed that Pokopia or anything Pokémon isn’t added yet?! What’s up with that? Tell me I’m not the only one wondering what’s taking so long? If ACNH can have a theme, I see no reason why the #1 sleeper hit of 2026 can’t…

Uhm, so #Scrivener has a Name Generator tool?! How am I just now finding out about this? And in true Scrivener fashion, the tool that should be simple has SO MANY bells and whistles. I'm gonna need to spend some time on this before I determine if it's worth using. Did you know about this?

For those wondering what this is a screenshot of, Kickstarter has created a $1M Culture Fund to back Kickstarters who apply to receive a piece of this funding. It's unfortunate that someone like me can't apply unless what I do fits their categories. And it doesn't. I just write horror fiction.

Which brings me to my more existential question: Why isn't "Writer" or "Author" ever included in the conversation with Art, Photography, Dance, Theater, Film, Fashion, or Music. Is storytelling not the same as these other mediums? I think I know why but that's a discussion for another day.

110

Erica Drayton @ericadrayton.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

I find it rather interesting that a platform which has had MULTIPLE Kickstarters succeed and at least one of them in their TOP 3 OF ALL TIME doesn't appear to have a category for indie authors? Intentional or, as we usually feel, forgotten? @kickstarter.com
