Back in 2024 I got hired to edit a short film for director Michelle Kaumeyer Hoffman, and proud to say it had a great festival run and is now out on YouTube. youtu.be/TMoBORbBu0o?...

No matter what changes in the film/video production world, two things will always be constant: - There will always be clients who have ZERO idea how to watch or EVEN GRASP THE CONCEPT of a rough cut. No matter how many times you explain it. - Music note will be just "something more upbeat"

Absolute blast at #AdobeMAX this past week. So much fun hanging out with other creatives and friends. Well done, @adobe.com and @adobevideo.adobe.com for making it so special.

Create a 30 sec sizzle promo for a corporate client with a super fast turnaround.....annnnnnnnnd GO! Here's how it starts...find your music (thanks @dewolfemusic.bsky.social ), lay in your end company logo on the final note, and then...you know...add some clips. On to editing! #postchat

Well, #ComicCon takes over downtown San Diego for the next 4 days. Taking the kids the next couple days. If you've never been, it's quite a scene. I'm not a comic-book fan, but the people watching is pretty fun. Year's ago, I did a video showing what it's like. vimeo.com/120267937/a8...

Question for anyone who knows about things like this - I was given an original #StarTrek series script - it was the make up artist's final draft from 1967. I'm not a ST fan, so looking to sell & talking to an auction house. Anything I should know before moving too far?

The wife's going out of town next week, so I got a few hours to myself today for all the kid duty I'll have next week. My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to see how the final chapter of this franchise wraps up...or until some creative deficient Hollywood exec decides to reboot it that is.

Thanks to all who responded to my post yesterday about cutting a trailer. You all gave me some great advice - really appreciate it. Sent first cut over to the director today, and got this back - "Wow!! Love it!" with just one small note. Guess I did okay. :) #postchat

Fellow editors - just finished editing a short film, and the director asked me to cut a trailer for it. I've actually never cut a trailer - not even for my own shorts. No judgement, please! :) Any advice on cutting a good trailer, more specifically, one for a short film? #postchat

Do other editors hate getting the "can you find a music track that's more upbeat?" note as much as I do? And not just because I feel offended they didn't like my choice (I'm not a DJ), but because there's usually no other explanation or guidance given. #postchat #videoediting

Haven't done a #TimelineTuesday in awhile...for those that do more corporate-world stuff, end of year means LOTS of EOY videos - "look how much we did" kinda stuff. This one, while short, has been a challenge due to tight deadline, but finally wrapped it today. #PremierePro

I'm not a colorist - I mean I color correct footage in an edit, but that's not color grading. I'm always amazed when a project comes back from a real colorist. There is just so much wizardry going on there that makes a project look amazing. Total respect for all you colorists out there.

After you send you send the short film you've been editing using the ProRes Raw clips (not the camera native MXF) to the colorist using Resolve is the worst time to find out that Resolve doesn't support ProRes Raw.
