Holme Timber Circle or Seahenge. I read Francis Pryor's book Seahenge recently and went to Lynn Museum in Norfolk over the summer to see the timbers and central tree. I highly recommend. With this piece I wanted to just focus on the texture and actually making it so it's not to scale or accurate.

Lascaux shaft figures and stone lamp inspired candle holder. Ceramic remake of another piece from last year.

Ceramic candle holder based on the Lascaux cave paintings and stone lamp. There is a black and yellow bison figure sitting on the side, with painted loops on it suggesting intestines. On the bison’s back is a series of 6 incised parallel dots and a human figure sitting against the bison, leaning as though toppling over.

Another small test piece using leftover clay. Been wanting to make some pendants for a while.

Small ceramic low relief takhi horse head pendant. Each photo shows it lit from a different angle, and in one photo there is twine looped through the hole.

Pinch pot glaze test piece. Very small, made using a bit of leftover clay. Inside is glazed, outside just underglaze.

Ceramic bowl with a dimpled surface and three round supports holding it up. The inside is a glossy gradient from brown-orange, to yellow, to white at the centre. The outside is matte black, with three cave art inspired horses on the sides jumping over the feet of the bowl. One is yellow, one is brown, one is white with spots.

One of my new glaze test horses. This is the same size as the broken horses I posted before, so smaller than my usual horses. Came out much glossier than expected.

Ceramic horse figure stood in a neutral pose. It is a mottled red-brown over blue, with a white underside, and black legs, tail, mane, and head.

One of my new glaze test horses. This is the same size as the broken horses I posted recently, so smaller than my usual horses. The fur and line running along the sides are incised.

Ceramic horse figure stood taking a step forward. It has an ochre yellow body with fur texture, a white underbelly with a brown line running along the side of the body following the contours of the body. Black legs, tail and mane, and two shoulder stripes. The top of the body is glossy, the lower body matte.

Underglaze test horse. Glad the colours turned out as hoped. This is the second ceramic horse I've made, but the air drying clay ones must number over a hundred by now 🤔

Leopard Seal and Gentoo Penguin gluggle jug turned sculpture. Final piece and design sketch. #SciArt

Ceramic leopard seal posed upright with head thrown back and mouth open. There is a gentoo penguin attached to the side of the seal in an upward swimming pose. In one photo a chinstrap penguin is balanced on the seal's teeth. It has a base showing an Antarctic landscape.

This was part of my chimenea test firings. Made from air drying clay, was trying to decorate it in a way that would allow it to be used with a real candle as acrylic paint is obviously not heat proof. A lot of superficial cracks. Summer 2026. [cw trypophobia]
